People have an immortal soul, a supernatural substance infused in our bodies while we are in our mother's wombs. Animals have a non-immortal soul.

As of now I don't think "robots" are anything more than animated matter obeying the laws of physics. Like an integrated circuit simulating an elaborate ELIZA program or advanced statistics.

This will probably remain true even as they get more advanced, unless God allows them to obtain a soul somehow. He probably won't because then you have humans with the ability to create things that have souls, putting then on par with God. [satan intensifies]

See the definition of life in genesis 9:4

Now as to pinpointing the location of the soul itself as OP asks, I don't know. I have discerned why man became a living soul. But not what the soul itself is. It's not the spirit as 1 thesselonians 5:23 states. But clearly the soul can transfer to the spirit because of matthew 10:28. In revelation 18:13 babylon is able to sell the souls of men. Implying it is a tangible object as slaves was listed in 18:13 as a seperate item. In revelation 20:4 it is possible to see souls.

There was some discussion in previous threads about dichotomy vs trichotomy of man, several months ago.

To put it simply, nepesh is what is common for all living things, its equivalent in Latin is anima. It generally is translated as soul, though better translation would be "life force". Sometimes in days long past, world soul was used to describe being in general, instead of mere life force (hence the confusion of hafizposting cretin above that pollutes every single thread on this board and mods cant get rid of this vermin.)

As for ruach, its equivalent is spiritus, or spirit. It is the immortal part of man, and its attributes are intelligence, free will and so on. Dichotomy vs trichotomy was a bit confusing for me so I opened a thread several months ago. The best reply I've got, that man is dichotomical and the immortal spirit is part of soul. but division between the two is thin and only God alone can see it

No. Man's spirit was bearhed into him by God, and it is patrilineal. Adams soul was breathed into him by God, eve's came from Adam, and all their descendant's spirit was passed along from Adam. Christ differed in that he was not born of Adam, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit, and so was not corrupted by original sin.

Nothing, it is not immortal it is able to be killed and destroyed for both animals/fish/flesh and humans see revelation 16:3

Well the soul has something to do with the animals ability to breath as all flesh has the breath of life and thereby a soul. But the spirit which is different then Spirit is neccessary to worship God see john 4:24

You also need a spirit because of 1 corinthians 2:14

This goes back to what Jesus says in john 3:5-6

The angels in heaven are similar to us that are christians, just being ministering spirits as we are to be ministering spirits to other Christians on the earth.

TLDR; animals have souls revelation 16:3 and humans have souls genesis 2:8. But only humans as far as I am aware because of john 4:22 can have a spirit in order to worship/serve God in spirit and in truth.

This is actually a topic that really messes people up because they don't take all of this into account and then read 1 corinthians 15:38, romans chapters 9-11, and galatians 4:21-31. Also if you don't use only the KJV to look up these verses it will make no sense amongst other things.

That's wrong too. Re-read genesis 1:27

And then genesis 5:1-2

And then genesis 1:28

The image of God is, first off, for Adam in the day they were created. Second off Adam in the day they were created were male and female and God told them to reproduce since they were still one flesh at that time since genesis 2:18 hadn't happened yet. Thirdly and finally read all of that again and then read matthew 19:4-6

Flesh is not the same as soul. And soul is not the same as spirit. Therefore read 1 corinthians 6:15-17
