What's the answer to someone who doesn't even bother with Christianity because of the sheer number of other religions?

826374 No.638391

There's really only a few that actually matter and you can study all of them on a basic level in a few days

Stunt on them with our fabulous and particular evidence for the Resurrection.

I'd say just start doing comparative religion, and then you'll see how completely different the christian explanation for the world and why the way people act is completely different from all the other worldly belief systems. I mean if they truly are coming from a position saying i don't know, ok i get that people have been there. But if they're coming from that position and them come back at you, and stab a knife in your back Ie, *Ah i really don't know which religion is the best i honestly don't know, ………but you should probably get with the times and listen to (((Rational thought)), Believing in theist thoughts are dumb*, then yea you can probably take just a hint; that said person isn't interested in really finding the truth, it's just new age materialist beliefs. Like vid related is really good basic entry into the diff faiths and how they differ from Christianity. But no dude I'm highly suspect of people saying oh well i just don't know. Well ok to them I'd ask what do you mean you don't know? Do you mean, i genuinely don't know, or more truthfully you're saying i think i know that I'm not certain, but having certain tendencies toward any theist or christian explanations are dumb. Well if they're the ladder then no, they were never truly looking for an answer you were just hiding behind the smoke and mirror cover of saying *(( I don't know)), But espousing, Belief in the supernatural is Dumb.* Just be wary of people saying that stuff, i see this all the time. Pointless materialism and new age beliefs that can sometimes be hidden under the guise of sometimes genuine unknown of diff belief systems.

Still doesn't answer the fundamental question: What is Truth?

Also Op, ima be quoting from some C.S lewis cause guy in your pic i can tell really isn't interested in answers from C.S Lewis, and i quote. *Very often, however, this silly procedure is adopted by people who are not silly, but who, consciously or unconsciously, want to destroy Christianity. Such people put up a version of Christianity suitable for a child of six and make that the object of their attack. When you try to explain the christian doctrine as it is really held by an instructed adult, they then complain that you are making their heads turn round and that it is all too complicated and that if there really were a God they are sure he Would have made (religion) Simple, because simplicity is so beautiful, etc. You must be on your guard against these people for they will change their ground every minute and only waste your time.* And this is from the 1940s Op, It's been going on since day 1.

rene girard

c00e8e No.638420

>>638412

Girard was absolutely instrumental in my coming to the conclusion that God must exist. From there on its not even a contest. Christianity's closest rival Islam is an absolute theological dumpster fire.

138fc6 No.638423

>>638420

What can I say? Girard is life-changing, imo. What's amazing is that he doesn't just champion Christianity as being really good (like, say, Jordan Peterson) he defends all the tenets of orthodox Christianity (resurrection is real, virgin birth is real, trinity is legit and arianism is junk).

c00e8e No.638429

>>638423

>Peterson

That he so conspicuously avoids talking about Girard pretty much told me everything I needed to know about Peterson when he first came to my attention. He's also very selective with how he applies Solzhenitsyn which and it's really noticeable given how often Peterson references him.

Silence. Do not throw pearls to the pigs.

Those who live in the age of information and do not know Christ do not want to.

A 5 second google search destroys any "argument" a layman atheist parrots.

Often times when people believe this, they also think that they're all have the same messages.

>Those who live in the age of information and do not know Christ do not want to.

This is an interesting point. However, you shouldn't assume that someone is trying to sharpshoot Christianity when asking these kinds of questions. Information flood control is nonexistent on the internet and Christians of the generation previous ours are almost total luddites. As a result it is very difficult to find a proper representation of Christian beliefs online, let alone that of any particular denomination. Our Roman Catholic brothers here are acutely aware of this, I'm sure. There are many folks out there who believe in God and will inevitably ask this very question out of genuine curiosity, which should be answered in good faith.

I think that CS Lewis argument isn't so good from a naturalistic perspective, but it raises other points, since postmodernists do distrust rational thought, as do fascists and communist ideologues it is certainly worth noting that irrationalism follows atheism around like a bad stench.

That's what Jesus meant about not trowing pearls before swine. If they disagree with a rational explanation rationally, that's fine, but if they refuse to acknowledge the points at all, then you're just wasting your time.
