For my own amusement firstly a few gripes and thumbs up. Firstly while I like the resistance meter mechanic in the context of this as an open world game it fills WAY too fast. You are out beating on cultists, liberating outposts and suddenly, forced story mission, and that happens in the blink of an eye and boom, region liberated. Second gripe is weapon selection is way too small, a standard M14 and a tactical M14 are not two seperate weapons, they are the same gun the latter is just a skin and the developers use this trick repeatedly to pad the gun selection numbers. Reskinning a weapon with plastic stocks and rails is not a substituite for real weapons selection, especially given all the neat stuff on the US civillian market that they could have added in. Postitive though are that the world feels much more lively, cultists and civillians are all over the place and so are wildlife making it feel very much inhabited. Guns that are in the game feel very satisfying to use. Also exploring on foot feels rewarding as there are unmarked goodies that can be found in places. Overall wandering around is fun and can be totally chaotic and thats great.

Okay story wise the cult is a mix of the rajneeshee cult and jim jones as far as I can tell. The baddies are compelling, they do have some redeeming qualities while still being antagonists. They really seem to be a classic personality cult with a thin vaneer of "christianity" half ass painted over this fact. They do not treat the cult as representative of actual Christianity (in fact character chatter and some notes imply actual Christians are at odds with the cult).So theres my take.

I just wish it wasn't announced right after Trumps presidency, that made it look like some cheap "Republicans are evil babyeaters" type of propaganda game.

A lot of leftists were basically hoping for exactly that sort of game, and were disappointed when they didn't get it. Of course that doesn't mean that the game is good, but rather that leftists are never satisfied.

There's a Trump "pisstape" mission in the game, anon. The devs are Ubisoft. It's what you'd expect.

The game makes it pretty clear that the cult leader is the Antichrist, and the bliss drug is the mark of the beast. The cult is not meant to be a depiction of Christianity, but rather it's opposite.

Every major Christian denomination from Baptist to Catholic has produced cults like this in real life over the centuries. (Yes, I can back that up with examples.) It's honestly something we need to watch out for. When someone in your flock starts preaching about rising up against the government, don't buy into it.

I don't think normies will appreciate the subtlety of the game's message, and they'll just take it as "Christianity is evil," and it was apparently marketed that way, so the game can be faulted for that, but it's easy to overestimate the acuity of normies, so you can forgive the developers.

In short, the game isn't anti-Christian, but it can be easily misinterpreted to be anti-Christian by both Christians and anti-Christians.

There is no message. It's a game designed to look cool and edgy so it can sell a lot of copies. The creators don't care about "le deeper meaning hidden inside :) " they just want your money.
