fc4c4f No.636092

Hi guys,

I'm a late 20's male who is curious about christianity. I've been baptized (roman catholic) by my parents, but never got a proper religious education, and never really went to church.

So, I was looking into getting connected to a church, but I'm not sure how proceed. Should I just google the location of a catholic chruch near me and show up for mass? What would be the proper protocol for someone like me? I'm in the US if it matters

Thanks for the help

Trust me dude do NOT become carholic, be a KJV only Independent Fundament Baptist. Jesus said the best person born among women was John the Baptist NOT John the c*Tholic.

Also make sure you get saved.

I hate to go against a fellow brother in Christ, but what is important that you read the Bible with the force and power of the Holy Spirit. I know your heart is in the right place fellow Christanon, but I say this having been a KJV-onlyist and having read the entire Bible in KJV. I know it's a noble goal many of us should aspire to, but reading the Bible should be understandable and relatively easy-to-read in each respective tongue and nation, or else God would've forced us all to learn Hebrew and Greek.

God speaks to us primarily through His Word. It is fine to go to any Nicene-believing Church, including the Roman Branch, but remember to put God first and seek Him with all you've got. God bless.

God bless and glad to hear that you're interested in Christianity.

First, I'd suggest reading the Gospel of Mark since it's intended to be a brief introduction to the faith.

Your next step should be finding your parish, which could be one close to you or farther away, depending on what you're looking for. Some Catholics on this board insist that you should look for a Traditional Latin Mass (TLM), and I think the general vibe is that TLM parishes tend to stick to their guns on theology and avoid being wishy-washy. On the other hand, I've also heard plenty of Catholics say that they've never had a problem with a run-of-the-mill parish running a Novus Ordo (NO), English-language service. Being honest, you probably won't have an issue either. Still, if both kinds of Mass are within a reasonable distance, you might consider checking each out in the future to see what you prefer.

In terms of how you should come in, no one will bat an eye if you walk in the back of the parish, find a comfortable seat on the pew, and walk out when the service is done. If you want to be more engaged, you should contact the priest in charge by telephone or email and they'll be able to give you a warmer reception. They should also be able to get you started with some religious education if you express interest in wanting to know more.

Also, mandatory plug for the Eastern Orthodox Church. Consider attending a Divine Liturgy in your area.

The KJV isn't really hard to read.

No,catholics and orthodox aren't saved so that's then not okay. Also you shouldn't go to one of the fun center mega churches either

>No,catholics and orthodox aren't saved so that's then not okay.

If they observe the Nicene Creed, Apostles' Creed, and the Athanasian Creed, then there is no problem.

>Also you shouldn't go to one of the fun center mega churches either

I agree, many of those prosperity types worship the money golden calf rather than God.

Memes aside, you have to find a Church that is right for you. Try them all out, you have nothing to loose

Honestly just attend and get into the flow of things again. Talk to the priest there about your situation, he would have far more wise words than anyone on this board could utter.

Go to your nearest Catholic church, make an appointment with the priest and go from there and with his advice. Ignore everything else written in this thread, because it's protestant and "muh particular form of the mass" vanity.

God bless

Also, observe how pr*testants pounce on the neophyte, since they can't handle the learned man.

This is called modernism and it's a heresy, OP

No, there is. If tthey aren't saved then they can't understand the Bible.

The responses in this thread are garbage…

>>636092

Read your Bible. And go to church. You're already baptized Roman Catholic so you can go to a Catholic church, talk to the priest, confess, and have communion. Although it might be better to go a few times before you have communion.

Go to a Catholic church nearby, ideally a cathedral. You can also check out Protestant and Orthodox churches, but you won't be able to have communion there (but it's always interesting to look around, and maybe you'll find yourself finding the faith better expressed there).

What circular nonsense.

c5c288 No.636482

Want to find a church, go where the holy spirit leads you. Remeber the church is a community, it is not a building and some times as we grow in christ we engage with other parts of the christian community.
