Can I take the Nazirite vow as described in Numbers 6? Sure, there might be no Temple or sacrifice system anymore but the Christian community is the new Temple and Jesus is our chief cornerstone, Jesus is the sacrificial lamb of God. Certain brethren in Acts 21 seem to have taken it. I'll just partake of the Lord's Supper when the days of my vow are fulfilled.

What would the purpose be? Are there proper channels though which you could do it, i.e., an authoritative tradition? Do you need to do it? What would the Nazarite vow give you which other forms of penance could not?
