If you compare orthodox icons to catholic paintings of the Crucifixion, you can see that Orthodox portray Jesus nailed with 4 nails and Catholics with 3. This is because, after the True Cross was found in Jerusalem and transported to Constantinople, the emperor decided to move the Nails from the Cross to Rome. However, during the voyage, gypsies stole one of the Nails only 3 arrived in Rome.
