Hey /christian !

In this thread I'd like to ask you guys to help me (and maybe each other) developing greater discipline and a healthy work-ethic.

My problem is that whenever I decide to do something it takes enormous effort to get going and when I did my part for the day I often go for weeks feeling like "I did my part" and I don't put any more effort into things. This eventually comes back to bite me in the butt.

This affects absolutely everything in my life, but the most crucial problem is my university studies. I'm paying my own way because I have a job, but I've been stagnating in college for years now.

Any tips?

What eats up your time the most? Vidya? Internet? Weed (lmao)? Booze/party life? What is it that is preoccupying your time?

Hobbies are a Sin, for example, learning to draw takes years and up to 4 hours of daily practice.

Hobbies aren't a sin. Some hobbies are but not all hobbies.

Thats the reason why fasting exists

begin with this (abstaining from certain food certain days shouldn't be that hard). Then it will in theory solve greater disciplinary problems.

>Tfw I accidentally fast often because I'm literally too lazy to make food.

I think I've fallen into some Satanic perversion of fasting.

I can vouch for the pomodoro technique, the important thing is to take a focused 5-minute break between pomodoros where you lay down, meditate, mini-nap, whatever to calm yourself down. I don't count going to the restroom, refilling my water as part of the 5-minute break, so it's really a 5-10 minute break. I use the 4-7-8 breathing technique (look this up) and pray for those focused 5 minutes.

It is very important to take a 15-minute break after 4 pomodoros. Time yourself when you goof on the Internet and visit your websites. I was greedy in the past and neglected this and ended up abandoning the pomodoro technique. Reward yourself, after doing this for some time, it was actually a hassle to force myself to do the 15-minute break.

4 pomodoros — I call it a block — after a block, I do a mini-retrospective of what went well, what went wrong, and try to improve my game. After about 2 blocks, I will take a 30-minute nap. So far I haven't really napped or dozed off into sleep, but just laying down and trying to get to sleep has helped and refreshed my memory. After a day, you'll accomplish a couple blocks (for me it can range from 2 all the way up to 4 blocks or more), and do a retrospective of the entire day (what I did, what I plan to do, blockages, retrospective). Repeat for the next day. Don't be too hard on yourself and take it a step at a time, again that is why retrospectives are important (look this up on how to do properly).

One day out of the week, I don't do any pomodoros, I just relax. I don't do this to follow the Old Covenant, but I believe God set out a good example for His People and I believe it is important to fully relax for a single day out of the week.

Hope this helps, God bless and get to work.

Fasting isn't about food, but rather abstaining from thing that you like in general for some time in order to exercise your patience. Food is standard thing to abstain, but you can abstain instead of food from other things, like video games and Internet.

OP here

>>630077

>What eats up your time the most?

Vidya, browsing the internet, reading things that interest me (philosophy and theology mostly),

I don't drink alcohol and I don't use drugs.

My greatest vice is gluttony though.

I have a very bad relationship with food. I frequently overeat and whenever I'm disappointed or sad or fail, I eat.

I'm not obese yet but I'm rapidly getting there.

Will give it a shot, thanks.

That's a great idea, I think I should totally cut out bread for a week or maybe a month for starters and cook my own food.
