There's an issue with the Christian faith having a perception of being inherently Western, yes, but it's more a problem of authority.
The CPC extends into all spheres of life for people that live there and considers itself a sort of father figure for the people (embodied, currently, in Xi). Xi and the other oligarchs believe that they need ultimate authority over the people to keep the party stable indefinitely. The Pope having authority over the bishops was a specific example of this authority being subverted, but the reason for the Bible ban is a more specific issue.
Christianity is booming in China and God must always come first to those in the faith. To the CPC, putting God before party is a sign of imperfect loyalty and a kind of treason. So as Christianity continues to spread, I imagine we're going to see some major crackdowns.

One of the big reasons they wouldn't dare suppress the Koran is the high density of Muslims in the far Western provinces of China. They have enough problems with domestic terrorism in those areas as things stand and, as we know, Muslims are very easily provoked.
