Thoughts on this? This probably would make sense with respect to St. Malachy's Prophecy of the Popes as this is the second time I've heard from a separate source that believes Pope Francis is simply a "placeholder" until the next (final) Pope comes along. Perhaps this is a good thing for Romans Catholics and for all Christians in general since we have more time so-to-speak.

>Thoughts on this?

It's retarded. Read Canon law.

If it happens that the Roman Pontiff resigns his office, it is required for validity that the resignation is made freely and properly manifested but not that it is accepted by anyone.

And

The Roman Pontiff obtains full and supreme power in the Church by his acceptance of legitimate election together with episcopal consecration. Therefore, a person elected to the supreme pontificate who is marked with episcopal character obtains this power from the moment of acceptance.

Benedict's resignation and Francis election were canonical.

Do yourself a favor and look how those prophetic names were written.

I understand there's laws and such, but we don't really know what's happening behind the scenes and as to why Pope Benedict really resigned. Anyways, I'm not going to go into rumors and fables, but just wanted to throw this out there given the recent controversy of the current Pope.

Not sure why you're trying to diss Saint Malachy, you do realize he's been venerated, and I don't know why Wikipedia claims it's a forgery when the prophecies are obviously being fulfilled right before our eyes: http://www.catholic-pages.com/grabbag/malachy.asp

Reason why I bring this up is if we were to line up St. Malachy's prophecies to current events, then it would make sense that Pope Francis is not really a true Pope, and that we still have one more to go and we don't know who that is. I think many of us following the Prophecy of the Popes have been scratching our heads over Pope Francis being "Petreus Romaus" but given this information that really puts things into perspective. Now of course through petition and prayer we can ask God to change the course, but it's interesting to see the way things are.

It's not certain whether it's even authentic:

He did a good job of a thorough analysis, although he admits it's his own impressionistic ranking. I did come across the Prophecy of the Popes years ago and dismissed it for similar reasons that the author gave, but the current Pope's actions and the theory that he's just a placeholder has really made me think.

You will say the same when it will be completely fullfilled too.

If ratzinger is still pope he would say something. He hasn't because he isn't.

Pope Benedict was not fit for being Pope. He was effectively Pope, as Pope JPII second, for much longer than you realise. He mishandled a LOT of stuff. Many scandals.

As long as it was properly manifested and freely it was legal. And dear Benedict never really liked his office.

I meant this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes#/media/File:Arnoldo_Wion_1595_Lignum_Vitae_p311.png

Look how each name is written. "In pesecutione &c" and "Petrus &c" are not one, but two "names".

Francis is the last pope. The church will change drastically after he’s done. No more popes.

Or maybe the Vatican gets destroyed by muslims and only protties and Aztec paganism remain.

Don't worry about it and just keep praying. God will sort it out soon enough. Worry on your sanctification and what's appropriate for your state in life

The point is, Pope Francis may not even be legitimate and he's simply a placeholder for whatever reason we don't know, especially if we take into consideration the Prophecy of the Popes by St. Malachy. This is good news for Roman Catholics since many have been dismayed by Pope Francis' tenure and there are talks amongst the conservative bishops on how to impeach a sitting Pope.
