Let's say a hypothetical Christian has true faith, is baptized, is one of the Elect, is saved, is in a state of grace, already has some good works to demonstrate his faith, and (unbeknownst to him, but hoped for) is indeed going to get into Heaven when judged. The basics are taken care of, or as taken care of as they can be while our Christian is still among the living. This isn't a discussion about if salvation can be lost.

Now the reason for my post. It's clear from Scriptures that not all the saints are awarded equally. How does our hypothetical Christian get a better place in Heaven? What are the different rewards saints can get? What are the different crowns saints can get? I know this hasn't been completely revealed yet, but what does Scripture and the Church say already?

I'm not asking for myself. I'm not assuming grace. Yes, I'm deeply concerned for even the bare salvation of my soul. No, I don't think salvation is based on works. No, I've never personally performed any works worthy of salvation nor any additional reward on top of salvation. No, I don't think salvation is whatever mercantile practice or video game convention this post reminds you of.

(But, yeah, for the sake of argument, let's just assume that I'm really asking for myself, that this post is nothing but an ego project for me, that I'm seeking validation for my worthless works that I'm in love with, and that my even asking this question is irrefutable evidence that my attitude toward God and salvation is completely backwards, that I'm daring to compare myself to the great saints and to Jesus Himself, that I'm presumptious and assuming the judgement seat of God, and imagining that I know the mind of God, committing idolatry and blasphemy, and I'm not a good Christian nor a good person, that I'm a Pharisee, and probably damned, and I'm a heretic, and everyone's denomination is wrong about everything, and you're much holier and more knowledgeable than me for seeing through my dishonesty and pride, and for chastising me so gently, etc. etc. etc.)

Now we can skip all those posts. Please answer the question: What's on the record regarding the different heavenly rewards?

Is there some way for Christian martial saints to pass on the fifty-two boys? Sodom isn't the Christian idea of Heaven.

>At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

>He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Also:

>Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

I'm not going to explain these verses because I'll probably get it wrong

Celestial sphere get wives and endless spirit children; telestial are as the angels, serving the throne of God; terrestrial celebrate as if they are guests to a banquet and have none of the duties or glory of the first two, but have peace and happiness.

Here are the five heavenly crowns named in the Bible.

>The Imperishable Crown

>1 Corinthians 9:24-25

>24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.

>25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.

The Crown of Rejoicing

>1 Thessalonians 2:19

>19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

The Crown of Righteousness

>2 Timothy 4:8

>8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

The Crown of Glory

>1 Peter 5:4

>4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

The Crown of Life

>Revelation 2:10

>10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

The works you do on earth don't save you but if you follow the commandments and do works then God will bless you and give you more rewards in the afterlife

26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Reward in heaven is beatific vision. Degree of that vision is degree of reward.

>How does our hypothetical Christian get a better place in Heaven?

By having grown more virtues. https://orthodoxwiki.org/Virtues

We know from Revelation that martyrs and virgins get better gifts, for one.

But note that even as there are different degreees of reward, all will progress eternally toward the infinite essence of God.
