>The cause for this is defeatism and allowing despair to infect your mind. One looks at the world and sees sin and lack of justice and it makes being in society a painful experience and drains any will to change it.
This.
But as a calvinist friend(the guy loved patristics, and was a gentleman and a scholar) once told me when i was feeling super confused and depressed about what to do with my life:
>After Elijah struggled with Baal's priests, he fell into a deep depression. There seemed to be no more believers anymore, apostasy was in full bloom, he was hounded by Jezebel, who wanted to kill him, and everything seemed dark. The Prophet wanted to die. The angel of the Lord came and told him several times to eat and rest. No miracle, but a very simple solution for, after a period of extreme stress, to take a little to recover.
>Take the things step by step, friend. Everything in it's time, as the Ecclesiast says. Analyze your priorities and focus on them in order. Do not propose to yourself to solve everything, and do not make big plans, they can change quickly. Take every day how God gives you, with confidence and gratitude.
