I have cut ties with my Mother and other members of my family for a while, simply because a lot of them had sinful behaviors (for exemple, my Mother bragged about her having intercourses when in an argument, she also did drugs in front of me when I was a teenager) et cetera. But as family is sacred, I was wondering whether I should try to approach them despite their attitudes.

Sorry for the blogpost.

You can sever all ties with them, or not. Assuming you have forgiven them, you will extend charity to them whenever you're around, but you don't have to be around them, especially if it disturbs your soul or can lead you into the snares of sin. Approach when the Lord shows you that you're ready.

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Cutting ties with most of my family made me a better Christian and a much happier person. Sometimes you have to get away from destructive people even if you happen to share a few genes with them. Some people simply want to drag you down to Hell with them.

I do not know about that but I think we should do our utmost to make peace between our Lord and our family members, even if it costs us our lives like our lord Jesus did. Heaven without family… Just the thought of it is depressing. I think that is why our Lord offers us salvation. That is why he chose the nails instead of heaven without us.

Make them aware of their sins, recommend the Bible and church, and if they don't better cut all ties. You obligations are towards Christians only.

God doesn't cut ties with you for sinning against him. Be the lamp and the salt for them. But don't let them to extort you emotionally. Don't let them to diminish your relation with God in any way.

But what about your Christian friends?

>God doesn't cut ties with you for sinning against him

>Don't let them to diminish your relation with God in any way.

What if the only way to preserve yourself is to cut all ties with them?

>God doesn't cut ties with you for sinning against him.

Reprobation and damnation.

Anyway, Jesus chose His disciples. Jesus turned His back on Nazareth. Christians are allowed to choose the people they associate with or disassociate from.
