Can someone explain Salvation to me? I've been comparing the concept of "Christian perfection", Theosis, and Salvation in the Catholic Church and I want to discern the main differences between the three because I have no idea.

Yes. This is an excellent question. We are made perfect only through Christ. We cannot earn it on our own. However, we are also commanded to keep his commandments and follow him. There are two types of death. The first is spiritual death which is caused by sin. The second is physical death which is when our mortal bodies die. Salvation from physical death is overcome because of Christ in and through his resurrection. All will be resurrected because of Christ. In essence the resurrection assures each of God's children that they will overcome physical death. The second piece of salvation is overcoming spiritual death or sin. God wants all of his children to return to his presence. Sin is the one thing that keeps us out of his presence. Accepting Christ's atonement allows us to overcome spirtual death through faith, repentance, baptism, and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. God is a just and forgiving God and those who have died without a knowledge of his plan will have the opportunity to receive it after this life. Those who know God and choose not to follow his plan will not go to Hell, they will receive a degree of glofy as Paul described similar to the sun, the moon, and the stars. The greater the degree of acceptance of God's love and commandments the greater the reward. Hell will be knowing that we did not do all we could do to obtain the fullness of salvation in God's kingdom. I would love to discuss this in much more depth.

I really don't know from a catholic perspective, but the baptist one is pretty easy to understand

>we all sin and fall short of the glory of God

>God needs to punish our sin (i.e. hell)

>God sent Jesus (read: also God) to die for us, so that our sins are forgiven by his enduring sacrifice

>Thus, when we profess to him our sinfulness and beg forgiveness, we are saved

then, you get baptized as your first act of obedience toward God. You'll still sin (everybody does) but then you ask forgiveness and try again. You also get to experience the love of God, due to, you know, actually being aware of it. It's pretty great!
