OP if you want to restrain yourself from sin, stopping yourself from swearing is a good starting point. It's a good thing to try and discipline yourself from swearing. It means that you can somewhat control what comes out of your heart.

In English, at least, words like F and S don't contain any malice of themselves. Before the Norman invasion, F and S were used in the same context as "copulate" or "defecate". Other languages from the same Germanic root like Standard German use "Scheiß" with a softer connotation than it has in English. The taboo comes from a class divide between Anglo-Saxons and Normans who viewed the Anglo-Saxon words like S and F as base, crass, rude, and lewd.
