Catholicism would probably be more popular among westerners if it were more hardcore and purged pozzed individuals who water down the faith. It's a shame. An uncompromising One True Church is exactly what the West needs right now and the Catholic church is asleep at the wheel. Unfortunately, materialistic fascism will pick up the slack, just like last time. Technology may have actually advanced enough at this point to make mass casualty gas chambers a reality at this point. The Vatican's negligence will allow something far, far worse than Hitlers comparatively tame regime at this point. Every society has a breaking point.

e66b86 No.607358

as a foreigner in a catholic nation he will always be resentful and alienated, finding a handful of poorly behaving employees in the worlds largest charitable organization (TM) is hardly a mark against rome

What's in his post are valid concerns and Catholics should share his sentiments. Why should Catholics tolerate people like James Martin being allowed to remain priests? They should be the ones trying to clean their own house.

his sentiments that i will accept any slur against the church of jesus christ if it supports my particular animus against it, yes how reasonable

can I get an AMEN

ce6ceb No.607390

Catholics should be upset about this, I would be upset if I attended a church that had a character like James Martin as clergy and failed to discipline him. You are being uncharitable in assuming HW is slurring the church out of animus.

Based HW saw the light. A star will rise in the east so they say.

>An uncompromising One True Church is exactly what the West needs right now and the Catholic church is asleep at the wheel

It's an absolute shame, because in lieu of a unified church, people want a unified text, and so are sacrificing basic rationality to go full KJV-only.

Polite sage for double-posting

I find it funny how non-Catholics can't seem to decide if the Catholic Church has too much top-down authority or not enough.

You can't just defrock a priest whenever you want, which is what people are really asking for. Essentially, he needs to commit specific canonical crimes in order to warrant being defrocked. "Tweeting lefty things that scandalize people" is not one of those crimes.

As far as discipline goes, that depends on his bishop. The problem is, he's from New York. That place is a cesspit. It's highly likely the bishop who's jurisdiction he was under was more than happy to let him go on about his business since it made them more popular with the right crowd over there.

Pray for him. If you hate what James Martin does but do not pray for him, you are part of the problem.

>>607416

I was there the night he got onto the discord and gave a personal testimony that he has turned towards the Lord. Which is awesome since I was praying for him for a long time, now time for him to clean up the Church at his location, and come home.

>Pointing out you're in communion with homos and blasphemers is bad because it puts bad light on the church

So did Jesus Christ put bad light upon the jews that sat on the throne of Moses.

ce6ceb No.607422

>>607418

Nobody is against churches having authority (we just believe that authority should be in harmony with/informed by scripture). The dude is promoting homosexuality. I would not attend a church that refused to fire a pastor for that. I will pray that he either repents, or is fired so he can't use his authority to deceive people.

They get away with it by beating around the bush. They can be defrocked if they say it in their sermons, but not in their twitter feed.

183a14 No.607452

Yup, Catholics who are truly decent are very few. I am not among them.

He denies church teachings on a regular basis.

>As far as discipline goes, that depends on his bishop.

His bishop is Cardinal Dolan. Dolan praised Michael Samsung for coming out of the closet.

>Judas Iscariot betrays Jesus

Why is Jesus Christ so bad at disciplining His apostles?

Christ never promised that the Church would never face Hell, only that Hell would not prevail, and He and His Bride will be with us until the end of time.

220e7c No.607590

>>607586

Judas was frequently rebuked by Jesus, and the only reason he wasn't disciplined after the betrayal is because he killed himself before Jesus was even on the cross. If Judas had lived to see the resurrection, do you really believe Jesus would not seek repentance from him or remove him from his position? Didn't Jesus ask repentance of Peter after he denied him three times? Are you saying Jesus actively chose to do nothing, as opposed to it just being a matter of circumstance? Are you saying that the existence of Judas shows that we are to tolerate and allow clergy who blaspheme Christ? That's delusional.

7ab0ab No.607592

>>607586

The comparison to Judas would only work if the church had let Judas continue as an apostle after betraying Christ, without him repenting first.

56fc39 No.607634

I honestly don't know about Fr Martin.

On the one hand he seems to flirt dangerously close with worldly faggotry, but on the other he really digs in to defend stuff like clerial celibacy.

Plus his book "Jesus - a Pilgrimge" is actually pretty good. He's no Benedict XVI, but I'm ashamed to admit I had serious doubts about reading it.

61a9bb No.607815

>>607590

The point is that Christ Himself was not free from bad actors during His ministry, and in the same way, His Church is not free from bad actors now.

Why is this? Because it is the will of His Father.

Despite being rebuked, it is never explicitly said it was Judas who lost the power of authority during his apostleship, and even the phrasing implies he was able to cast out demons at other points.

>Are you saying that the existence of Judas shows that we are to tolerate and allow clergy who blaspheme Christ? That's delusional.

I'm not asking to excuse this dude, I'm asking you to understand that the Church will always be dealing with dudes like this, and always HAS. He should be de-frocked IMO.

>>607592

We'll never know because he killed himself.

>HotWheels points out a problem within the RCC, namely that certain clergy can support abominable things with impunity

>the Catholics on this board prove HotWheels wrong by saying the Vatican dindu nuffin and that he has no authority to criticize, even though it's clear Fr. Martin is a net detriment to the RCC

And you people wonder why there's a sodomite mafia in the Vatican.

All that really needs to happen is that a cardinal or pope needs to denounce his quasi-heretical positions (something that has been done many times over and throughout the centuries…)

No direct disciplinary measures are necessary.

Well good luck with that happening.
