My question is: how many of those people you mentioned are KJV-onlyists? If most or all of them are KJV-onlyist, it probably says something about that community. Of course if most of those people aren’t KJV-onlyist, then obviously I’m barking up the wrong tree.

Being KJV-Only is no guarantee that a preacher is heresy free. Many heretics use the KJV to draw more people to hear their message while disguising their heresy. If they used a modern Bible instead their potential audience is going to be automatically suspicious.
