Intermittent fasting maybe.

Or nofap.

Probably some of both.

>Marijuana

(started quitting months ago, seldom do anymore)

>Masturbation

nasty habit, really does drain your energy and wreak havoc on prayer habits

>Will fast 24 hours every Thursday

I started this a couple weeks ago actually as some personal atonement I wanted to make for each woman I've fornicated with. Will probably just continue it through Lent

>Alcohol only once a week, and no drunkenness

This will be hard as I live in a college town with non-Christian roommates

Pray for me bros, looking to make Jesus proud this year

Giving up:

Porn, snacks, and booze.

Booze bothers me only the tiniest bit, I can take it or leave it.

Porn is kinda hard just because it also forces me off sloth since I can't go to half more boards since they're not sfw

Snacks is going to kill me…

But, it's all basically stuff I should've been doing anyway. Hopefully lent, by the grace of God, can help me lessen my gluttony and lust in one go.

I'm gonna start giving up false dogmas that aren't in the Bible. Look at what, no Lent for me.

Wallowing in negativity. I don't watch porn anymore but it's no good that I keep thinking about tfw no gf and that controls my attitude and actions instead of God. It's borderline idolatry at this point. Hope it can be changed.

I gave up shows with excessive profanity for Lent.

It turns out I didn't know just how much I watched shows with excessive profanity.

Are there any humorous Christian YT channels?

40 (I think) days before easter where catholics give up something. Don't really know why they do it, it's not in the bible and if you can give up something bad in the short term you may as well give it up forever.

Matthew 4:1-11 King James Version (KJV)

4 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Gluttony makes a man gloomy and fearful, but fasting makes him joyful and courageous.

And, as gluttony calls forth greater and greater gluttony, so fasting stimulates greater and greater endurance.

When a man realizes the grace that comes through fasting, he desires to fast more and more.

And the graces that come through fasting are countless….

>I don't understand lent so it does not make sense

>Muh Catholics

>don't know why they do it.

>don't know why they do it.

Firstly: >>606985

Secondly: Body and soul are not separate. Damage body and you damage your soul. Make your body strong and your soul prospers also. That is the whole purpose of ascetic struggle. It's the same thing that a soldier does when he prepares for a fight. The same thing that monks do when they pray detached to modern world. Soldier/monk makes his body and mind strong by overcoming himself, his passions, his comfort.

>Muh Catholic stuff

Orthodox brothers also lent so you cannot go just with 'catholics do it so it is a nonsense' - a popular garbage argument nowadays

>you can give up something bad in the short term you may as well give it up forever.

Many people prefer to do/give up things they're trying to do/give up during the whole year but they're not 100% successful. The lent is a great opportunity to master the ascetic struggle. On the top of that they have something just for those 40 days.

The purpose of lent is to come closer to God through asceticism. Think about your priorities. Realize you're going to die.

Furthermore the goal is to strive to be the best version of yourself spiritually and physically so you can serve the God and your people as well as you can

So …that's it..

>already underweight, lose another 15 pounds

>looking like a skellington now

>clears up just as lent begins

>didn't realize that it already started up until I saw this thread just now

What exactly is the procedure with fasting? What kind of fasting do you do? How long, how often? I guess I picked a bad time to try to start bulking.

a6ddc5 No.618206

>>611553

I need to bulk too so I do not really limit the protein and calories intake. I eat simply, but enough. No sweets, no junk food, etc. I do eat oat meal for breakfast, meat for lunch…to get carbs I do get sugar to my tea, bread,….

As I have said my weight is already low so I cannot afford strict fasting from all food. Rather I try to keep a 'healthy diet, slow long term bulk' during the lent as well as throughout the whole year.

Furthermore:

>Working out - strict plan

>Prayer, scripture study

>Regular mass attendance

>Cutting social media time

>Reading book daily

I mean yeah it may seem kinda lame to those who go like full hunger strike during lent. If I was overweight I would try to do that. Considering I should not do that I go through the lent doing this to make the best version of myself.
