Whombst going to confession at start of lent

e55c7b No.602128

I absolutely have to make sure I go to confession tomorrow. It's my last opportunity before lent.

778ce3 No.602145

>>602128

You can go during lent too, not that I'm suggesting you don't go tomorrow.

As a non-Roman Catholic Christian, how can I participate in Lent?

b86755 No.602312

Confession is obligatory during the 4 fasting periods, so yeah, I'll have to go.

>>602128

Man, same here. :(

Indeed. But my goal is going into lent in a state of grace, and remaining until after Easter. Please pray for me.

Not him but how can a non Catholic do penance?

a3e57c No.602458

>>602439

Penance as works of repentance, not penance as sacrament.

The snow is coming down hard and I am worried.

Is it considered proper to go to confession even if you haven't started towards confirmation?

378a0f No.602500

>>602495

Yes.

Kids go to confession before their 1st communion.

d85cfe No.602536

i haven't been baptisted yet so idk if it would be weird to go up

is there a special first confession?

ed8be8 No.602622

>>602536

I'm not sure you need to! Baptism freely removes sin. The clock starts at baptism, as it were.

I am waiting to start RCIA.

Can i participate in Ash Wednesday?

ed8be8 No.603187

>>603096

I don't believe there would be any theological reason you couldn't. It's a mark of penitence, if you repent of your sins and desire baptism, you should be qualified.

guys I feel really bad… I biked over to my church for vespers and confession (which I havent received in over 5 years), and when I got there I found out that there weren't any vespers being held.. I made the best of my trip but naturally its not the same. And I cant go to liturgy tomorrow because after being unemployed for the longest time I have my first day of work at 8am tomorrow…

Last week I felt unworthy to receive the Eucharist and it felt so unbelievably bad to deny the consolation of Christ :((((

how shall i prepare for Lent? please pray for me brothers

Everyone's going to be fasting on Ash Wednesday and every Friday, right? If you're an adult, you really should.

>>603083

not that anon, but as someone who has a masturbation issue, I imagine it's something similar.

I'm on day 24 of nofap though, and you can be sure that's going to be continuing throughout lent

>>603205

You have a few days before Ash Wednesday, anon. If you can, try to call up that church's priest and arrange for a confession, if possible. Explain your situation–i.e., tell him that it's been 5 years and you really want to do this before Lent–and your priest should understand.

I know that feel. Woke up at 6 AM to go to mass on a Wednesday. The nice lady told me to talk to the priest after mass. Too much spaghetti and left.

>Everyone's going to be fasting on Ash Wednesday and every Friday, right? If you're an adult, you really should.

The thing that gets me though is this whole 1 meal during Ash Wednesday. How do people who don't drive get to and from Church? I can't do 1 meal + 40 min walk to church and back. I just can't do it. I don't know how other people can do this. And worse is Holy Saturday were supposed to do the same thing, but I can't do that + a 2 hour vigil.

Is there some sort of trick? The caloric and protein cut I get from this is too much.

778ce3 No.603382

>>603352

Fasting days you can eat one meal and two smaller meals which don't equal the bigger meal. The smaller meals can't include meat. It used to be that every day except Sunday was a day of fasting during lent With Friday and Saturday also requiring abstinence from meat.

5bda50 No.603494

>>603382

Seems my priest was wrong then. He was claiming that it's just one meal. Strange, he's usually the one priest in town that's on the ball with these things.

Turns out too after doing some research, the Bishops in my country agreed in 2006 that Meat on Fridays during lent is a requirement, but every other Friday and act of piety is valid in lieu of going meatless.
