Is there any dishonor reading CEV because I'm too stupid to read KJV (I'm planning on reading it after I complete CEV, though.)

Really? Because I thought you'd be attacked as someone who needs things read simple to him. But I will read KJV after this, but I think CEV seems to explain what's going on easier, so when I'm done I won't get stuck on KJV as I already know what a verse is about.

For a first reading, CEV is definitely not dishonorable. But for in-depth bible study, I personally would recommend NKJV. Use multiple translations if you prefer and compare them.

The author of The Message rightly points out that the Church in Galatia wouldn't have had to go to a library or look up anachronistic words to understand Galatians. The bible is theopneustos - that is, God-breathed, but if I gave you a Russian bible, you'd have nothing to your benefit. I can read not word one of Hebrew, but I hope I can still derive benefits of the Old Testament.

You will be attacked by KJV-onlyists, but they are incredibly few in number. The message is always more important than the messenger. If the CEV helps you to understand things better and strengthens your faith, then it is a good thing. I've personally never read a KJV. It is unnecessary to salvation.
