Euthanasia Christanon 02/08/18 (Thu) 00:31:15 da9ba9 No.601464
Can I get a quick rundown on the Catholic viewpoint and arguments for it? I know it's forbidden in Catholicism, but I am unable to articulate why.

Sure. The problem is arguing the ugly cases, for example, "My dad had <insert horrible disease here> and he suffered in the hospital for 2 weeks, why can't we just show him (((Christian mercy)))?"

God loves all humans, and all who have God’s love have a certain type of dignity that should never be violated. This is just an across-the-board’s rule. All human life. This is also the Catholic antiabortion argument. Once you start to judge some humans as not worthy of that dignity, not worthy of that respect; do you really want to open this can of worms? How do we decide who’s dignity we can violate? Who sets those parameters?

The only real solid argument we can have here is >>601497, inheritance murder, and mass suicides.

Killing a terminally ill person is not murder. (Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 78a).

asking for death is rarely something that a person does under a rational state of mind, which is prized in the Church more than people realize. not to say it isn't a difficult question for people that often has to be seen on a case by case basis, but life is life, you don't make it go away quietly.
