>Priest stops half way through to put on a commercial asking people to donate directly to the Archdiocese

I don't even know who I'm supposed to report this to.

My issue is that they're interrupting the celebration of the mass for this. They couldn't even wait until after the mass itself ended.

No. British.

It's actually horrifically common.

>clapping

Putting aside everything, this pisses me off the most since it's something that happens so often. Do the priests just not know any better? Do they not give a shit?

>British

I'm so sorry, and I genuinely mean that.

It's fine if it'sduring the announcements.

>Do the priests just not know any better? Do they not give a shit?

Whether my parish priest knows any better or not I don't know, but he certainly allows it. In more trad parishes the priests obviously don't allow it, but then again these congregations know better anyway.

I kind of misspoke about how common it is. It's by no means rare, and often happens for things like baptisms, guest speakers, marriages etc, but it seems to happen a lot in my own parish.

The only time I have ever seen anything close to a reproach for clapping was once when, in our local Cathedral, we had this based visiting priest from Nigeria who was at that time also privately celebrating his 10th anniversary as a priest. He asked that instead of applause, we join him in reciting the Salve Regina. Apart from that, I have never seen anyone directly address it as improper.

>I'm so sorry, and I genuinely mean that.

lel me too.

Where in the world are you people going to Mass? I keep seeing all these:

>clapping

>rock music

>twerking

>watching TV

thread/posts about Mass and I have never seen any of that. I go to a NO Mass in the United States and nothing like that happens at all. Are y'all just making this stuff up to D&C Catholics?

United States is bretty big so it wouldn't surprise me if there were lots of fine ones here.

>d&c

I wish, a lot of places are still recovering from commie infestation. There's also the South American priests who bring their (((liberation theory))) with them when they come over.

I think he was being hyperbolic, but yeah I do see people on here shitpost about NO masses being modernistic hells. Though I have never witnessed this in my life, all the NO masses I've been to have been pretty respectful and seem fine (the the cathedral in my hometown was pretty modernistic which I wasn't a fan of but thankfully I go to a school with a pretty great NO cathedral that has a full choir and plenty of latin chants)

What is a mass like? I only went to one years ago, and my memory is pretty foggy on it. I live in the American South and have been to baptist and methodist churches more frequently, but they do clapping and the like during the music. Does that not happen in masses? I imagine not.

>Inb4 Anon just go to a mass they're everywhere and happening pretty frequently

I would, but I have the flu right now. I guess it's not too unbelievable to assume God would keep me from mucking up the place and getting someone seriously ill, but I'm going to say that's happening by me deciding not to go risk it.

a172ee No.601132

I saw a homily once where the priest pulled out a whiteboard and just laid out the whole parish's budget explicitly including his own budget, I don't know if that's liturgical abuse or not but I thought it was pretty ballsy in a good way, he didn't beg for money or ask anyone to donate the message was more towards people asking the parish for all kinds of new additions and things and him laying out how impossible it all was with the meager budget they had.

219ec5 No.601141

>>601132

I like the transperancy, but probably not best during homily.

If my priest did that Id probably donate a lot more than I do, simply because I can then see exactly where my money is going and how Im helping.

>Halfway through

What, like during the announcements? This also happened at my parish but for the diocese. What do you expect to hear about during the announcements that won't bother you?
