He killed himself because he felt guilty that Jesus was being executed for his actions. Nothing he says indicates that he thought Jesus was God or even Christ, he just realized that he would die as a result of his actions and felt guilty. He's still a slimeball, he just had a moment of clarity

Judas was filled with guilt about having an innocent man killed (he didn't believe that Jesus was the Son of God), and so tried to receive forgiveness from the Priests and Elders, who could not give Judas forgiveness from his sins or his guilt. Jesus knew he would be crucified and knew Judas would sell him out. Did Judas know of this prophecy also? Was he the most dedicated follower to Christ since he was the only one willing to sell him out to the Pharisees? Did he know he would forever be deemed as an evil man but went through with it anyway due to his love in Christ?
