How can any genuine Christian excuse these violations of the 1st Commandment?

example: I think I may have caused a stupid misunderstanding with a neighbor. I'll think about it a couple of times every hour for the next week.

You have to disciplined your mind to think on productive things. Things that are pleasing to God. Ask yourself, "is what i'm dwelling on useful and approved by the Lord, or is it sin and only hurting me?" If the latter, refocus onto something else. Even have some "go to" replacement thoughts like a certain prayer.

>how do I stop thinking about petty things/incidents in my daily life

i have a bizarre trick for this, you'll probably think it's baloney, and i am going to sound like a crazy-person, but i'm going to tell you anyway.

when some unwanted thought comes into your head,

close your eyes, think "no," and while they're closed, move your eyes to the extreme left and extreme right quickly two times.

it's an uncomfortable feeling.

for me, it sort of resets the RAM of my brain (best way i can describe it,) letting me direct my mind to something wanted.

i think it keeps me from dwelling on petty things more than i would if i didn't do this, but there's not really a way to know for sure.

>why do protestants hate mary?

Stop with your false accusations. Who'd hate the woman who was chosen to give birth to Christ? What I hate is idolatry. You want to praise and appreciate Mary? Then thank God for it in a prayer, or meditate about what a remarkable person she was. But do not worship any idols of her or anyone else. It is heresy and you ought to know it. I do neither condemn Catholicism entirely, just the false practices it adopted from Roman paganism and Jewish mysticism

Neither do I worship The Bible, but I take it as the word of God from where I get the doctrine I need in order to live my live as a Christian. Worshipping images and carvings of Jesus or the cross is also idolatry. In my personal opinion, there is nothing wrong with having a cross in your house or on the cover of your Bible, because it shows every visitor who you worship and obey. Wearing a cross (necklace) though, in my personal opinion, is a sign of boasting like praying in public.

Be patient, my friend. Everything has its time.

>taking verses that much out of context

Have you even read the first five books of Moses? Besides the Ten Commandments, there are many rules that circumvent the former because God said so.

Cherubim do not represent God, and God showed himself in a cloud or a pillar of fire. Nobody does it say in The Bible that the Cherubim represent God, you inane illiterate.

Is there anything else you want to make up?
