Hi everyone. I'm sure you've all heard about the cryptocurrency craze sweeping the world right now. A lot of people don't understand what cryptocurrency is yet. As a medium of exchange, cryptocurrencies have the potential to decentralize the global financial system (at least to a degree–which is huge!) /christan/ should be interested because the book of Revelation foretells that during the end times, no person on earth will be able to buy or sell without receiving the mark of the beast; this shows you how important a means of exchange is. While it is not possible to change that prophesy, it is possible to protect your financial security and privacy before the end times.

We can see that Christians are being persecuted all over the world. Unfriendly governments, such as the Chinese Communist Party or Islamic governments, restrict Christians' ability to exchange information and to conduct commerce. This is where crpytocurrency comes into play. Christians can use BiblePay to do things like support churches in persecuted regions through commerce (ex. buying handmade icons from Coptic churches in Egypt; sending a Chinese church copies of Bibles or soul-winning materials in exchange for BBP tokens under the radar) or donation. BiblePay is a blockchain developed by Christians; it is similar to others such as bitcoin at its core, but differs in that it is 1) ASIC/GPU mining resistant (which means its possible to profitably mine on your home computer and it is not as profitable to construct large mining farms, thereby encouraging decentralization) and 2) a tithe of all coins mined is automatically donated to charity. Specifically the BBP development team chose to donate to a charity that supports orphans.

I wanted to spread the word here because I know some of you guys might be interested. Disclaimer: I am not a developer and I cannot answer many technical questions. However the developers are easily accessible on the BiblePay forums and on Reddit. Right now this is still a small project and I encourage everyone to get in on it. At this point you don't even need to spend money on it; you can really easily set it up to mine coins in the back ground for free while you're using your computer. Its also perfectly acceptable to use BBP purely as a speculative endeavor; even if you make money, every action you perform (mining, trading, etc) supports the network and also results in charitable donations.
