>study Christianity, pray rosary, read books on prayer or moral theology, etc.

>find nothing but truth

>all of the shittiest, least virtuous people I've known were Christian, and the best just had no opinions on religion

>all of the Christian parents I've known have had at least one kid go off the fucking rails and become a drug addict, steal from them, get kicked out of their house, and go live some fucked up lifestyle somewhere else, while this seems exceedingly rare among non-religious households in my social class (upper middle class American)

Are there any books on this issue?

Devil likes to attack religious people and leave non religious relatively alone, keeping them mired in sin but not making a spectacle of it most of the time. That is why as a religious person you must truly fight and struggle and do your job well. Also stop cursing.

Two things:

1. Some do hoard treasure that allows their family to get away with stuff. We have God and his church.

2. I've had a different experience, in fact, when I met a couple who had adopted three kids and when I asked why, they mentioned Christianity, this planted seeds for me.

3. There's a temptation to think we're the righteous ones in the church. No, we're sinners who admit as much. You have to continually turn from sin. The catechism on this point is horrible, generally. An orthobro described the faith as progressively scraping away layers of sin from your soul, or something to that effect. There's a horrible temptation to declare yourself clean, when monks and ascetics - clearly holy men - will say they still work to purge sin.

Follow Christ, not christian religions for the antichrist is coming and he will use the leaders of the world to deceive all the people of earth

I went to a pretty rich boarding school and university and noticed the opposite thing. Pious people were better, seemingly more virtuous, and much friendlier.

As other anons pointed out, this sin arises because people think that they are always right and their behavior is always justified as long as they follow God, despite God's insistence that you examine yourself for hypocrisy before making judgement. If one demon leaves seven come in their wake. Seven is the number of God and is a lot more demons. That being said what Christian parents did you know that dropped the ball that bad?
