It depends on the context. Blessing and thanking are synonyms biblically 1 chronicles 16:4-8,34-43. It seems on that same chapter David thanked his house for some reason. I think the reason is the next verse in 1 chronicles 17 though as David wanted to build God a house for the ark of the covenant as to boast David's craftsmanship skill. Which God says no to in 1 chronicles 17:4 because of God not wanting us adding to or taking away from what He says/wants i.e revelation 22:18-19.
Personally because of romans 3:9-12 I won't be blessing/thanking animals on earth if I can avoid it since all flesh is unrighteous, since we know about revelation now anyways. Now christians and enemies could and should be blessed/thanked because of all the stuff in matthew 5:44 and luke 6:28. Now objects I don't know about, as all the earth is going to be destroyed anyways so I am not sure there is much of any worth blessing anything that is staying on earth.

>The ICXC hand gesture is only for priests and bishops though.
Is this biblical? Have you read and applied mark 7:8-9 and colossians 2:8?
