Christchan is back up after maintenance! The flood errors should now be resolved. Thank you to everyone who submitted a bug report!

There is a specific church I want to attend, but it is 2 1/2 hours away. That is like a 5 hour pilgrimage almost every other Sunday or so (I have work a lot of weekends). Now I won't mention the denomination because it is pointless, and I want to avoid denominational bickering. I live in a very rural area and the majority of churches around me are Pentecostal (I don't like tongues), and Mennonites (don't think they would like me). Is traveling this far acceptable especially if I cannot be there except once or twice a month?

I think you should pray on it and if the churches near you really arent in line with your thinking them it would be worth it to take the time to go to the church that is further.

Is it possible others might be in the same situation. For instances lets say you want to go to an Orthodox church, but it's really far away. If you talk to the priests of the churches you might think of going to you might find there are people from the surrounding area in a similar situation. If that was the case you might be able to think of some way of commuting to make the time and money less of a problem, and you could potentially have services that don't require clergy on alternating weeks or something like that. I don't know exactly how that would transfer to other denoms, but probably something like that could be done for them too if there were enough other people. This also opens up the possibility of a local church down the line more so than just regularly making the drive yourself. Just an idea to look into

We know your Baptist

>Mennonites (don't think they would like me)

They'd love you. But I think they would frown upon you not wearing the correct clothing (if you did).

>There is a specific church I want to attend, but it is 2 1/2 hours away

I'm 2 1/2 hours away from the meme monastery. I'd like to check it out sometime.

>We know your Baptist

Hard to beleieve there's not a Baptist Church closer than 2.5 hours away, though.

You've made abundantly clear that you're a prot

Just not big into the whole speaking in tongues, handling snakes, and having seizures on the floor. I am epileptic, and I don't want them thinking the Holy Spirit is in me when I need an ambulance instead.

No, they'd be fine with you. Just dress conservative - long sleeves, regular pants, but not suit/tie - and you'll be welcomed.

Tbh I actually thought about this. I kinda like their humble culture and language, but I have a feeling I would always be seen as an outcast if I didn't go full Mennonite.

First, go as often as is practicable. Second, don't look for a perfect church, cause there's only one and you can only enter after you die. Look for a theologically sound church that holds on to the deposit of faith.

Takes 10 minutes to walk to mine

I live 5 hours on a train away (one way) from my nearest Church that offers Mass once a month at most. It's 500 pounds for the train ticket.

It's worth going no matter how far it is.

>500 pounds = $673 USD

wtf

why does a 5 hour train ticket cost more than an airplane ticket? lmao

I can go from Beijing to Shanghai for $70 in 5hours, on a high speed bullet train, for decent 2nd class seats, first class would be $140

Yeah it's much cheaper to go by car at that price
