From a Christian perspective, when is it okay and not okay to report someone to the police for breaking the law?

b378f5 No.563539

>>563536

This depends entirely on the situation, and prayer, God will tell you. Also don't forget to use Wisdom.

c9f35d No.563544

It's always okay to report niggers.

(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST)

87721c No.563545

If it's a crime against yourself or your property and you forgive them totally then there's no point to report it.

If it's a crime against others, you see someone break into your neighbors house, it's good to report.

If its your family member/friend probably good to talk to them, give them a heads up, hear their side…family first!

If they break God's law then you should

I think this is a pretty good post. Though, I would say something like, "If the laws being broken are not in direct opposition to Christian morality, then you should always report." As Christians, we have a mandated civic duty, and we don't get to decide which laws are worth abiding by and which aren't. Allowing laws to be broken makes you an accomplice and culpable in any moral aspect of the crime.

A ban for this, really?

e024d4 No.563634

This is not /pol/.

fe926c No.563641

We can forgive, but justice and punishment is always warranted to appropriate crimes.

288c8e No.563644

If they break the law. If they break the law so that they wouldnt break the law of God then dont.

1d6bbf No.563646

Even if the bible tells you top obey the law, God tells you to be merciful and to forgive, as well as to love your neighbor.

>Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

>Mark 12:31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

>Matthew 18:21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22Jesus answered, “I tell you, not just seven times, but seventy-seven times!

It sounds like that wouldn't really be forgiveness? Whenever you hear stories of women forgiving men for rape, it's means they're not going to go to the police about it.

0bb882 No.563647

You know I find Matthew 5:25 funny because one way it means one thing but the other way its a response to this thread.

>Reconcile quickly with your adversary, while you are still on the way to court. Otherwise he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.

This implies you can just drop your request to the police if you feel like the crime doesn't matter anymore.

It's also not reddit.

1d6bbf No.563655

>>563631

It's not christian.

fe926c No.563658

>>563646

Sin begets sin unless penance is paid and willpower with the help of God is manifest to stop it from happening again. Those that continue anyways with no clear pattern of trying to stop cannot be blindly forgiven; see Sodom and Gamorra.

e024d4 No.563683

>>563654

You're right. It's neither /pol/ nor Reddit. It's /christian/ and the rules of /christian/ are to be obeyed. The post clearly violates Rule 2.

710347 No.563686

If the criminal is a Christian try to get them to repent and make it right privately before going to the cops when possible.

I'm pretty sure it's about the context and not that he used the word nigger.
