I view heavy metal as the modern inheritor to classical music. It's almost a prerequisite to have a devilish name. E.g. Pantera (the Roman soldier who fathered Jesus according to the Talmud), Avenged Sevenfold (a reference to Cain), Lamb of God (admitted to be ironic by the frontman), Judas Priest (KK Downing admits that the power of the band came from the name moreso than the lineup), Black Sabbath (Satanic inversion of the Sabbath), and it goes on and on, that's just off the top of my head. I played metal for 15 years and I pray to God to release me from it and help me find more fruitful music, which glorifies him. But contemporary Christian music is so, so bad….

I didn't develop an appreciation for metal until I'd been playing guitar for a few years. I think most metal heads can play at least a few licks. What do you listen to, brother?

Outside of music used for worship, all music is degenerate. The only semi-acceptable music options to listen to are Wagner and fashwave.

Sorry for being a bit harsh, but metal is just so noisy, edgy, and adolescent. It lacks appreciation for the more timid, contemplative, and meta-emotional aspects of life. And furthermore, just a personal preference, but the rhythm is too straightforward it's boring. It needs more polyrythm and counterpoints, you know.

For popular music I have a preference for Italian blues/jazz funk, although some prog rock is okay too, though most of them are boring. For classical, I prefer very timid and unambitious pieces written out of love for God such as Purcell's You Mighty Powers Above" and Bach's "Erbarme Dich". Occasionally, I'd also love to listen to the powerful atonality of Bartok, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, and a bit of Schoenberg.
