I came to this thread to show that sports are, simply put, satanic. This proof can be found clearly in the writings of the Eastern Church Fathers.
You see, in the period of Late Antiquity, the Eastern Roman Empire built a horse race track called the Hippodrome in Constantinople. Here there would be chariot races between two teams, the "blues" and the "greens". This quickly became the most popular sport in the Empire and the Hippodrome was filled to the brim with spectators from Constantinople.
The Church Fathers were very opposed to the chariot races. Saint John Chrysostom called the Hippodrome the "Satanodrome". There are even stories of monks going to the chariot races and then being struck down by God with lightning. Saint Basil and Tertullian also condemned the races as satanic.
