There's a good reason why we're meming. Bad things have always happened to his believers and unbelievers, including his own son. If you've read the Bible starting from Genesis, you would know this from the start. Read the Book of Job and Story of Joseph from Genesis before asking us questions that had been addresses several times over in the text.
The purpose of following God isn't to get super powers or be immortal in the flesh. It's to cope with hardship, not indulge in sin which causes hardship in the long term, and become stronger in spirit.
