Could this mean Bane (Icehead) has suicidal desires? There is some evidence to support this.
>Calm down, Doctor! Now is not the time for fear. That comes later
This could mean that crashing the Wreckage Brother would have been the end of Bane's story. However, he chickened out in the end, and hated himself for it. Hated himself for fearing death, like Dr. Pavel did. So he chastised Pavel and himself for giving into fear. Saying "That comes later" shows us that Bane is willing to attempt suicide more times.
>You don't fear death. You welcome it. Your punishment must be more severe
In the extended edition, Bane tries to torture the furfag, because the furfag doesn't fear death. Bane envies him deeply for this, and hates himself even further for being surpassed by a furfag, so he lashes out at him by torturing his soul. Being a petty shadow of his former self ever since the botched suicide attempt on the Wreckage Brother, Bane wants the furfag to know what the fear of death is like, to become like Bane himself, spiritually.
All of this also establishes a striking contrast with CIA, who calmly accepted his death in the Wreckage Brother. He lived as well as he could, protecting his men and calling Ittin at least once a day, so he had no regrets. Compared to Bane, CIA is an embodiment of virtue.
The beauty and complexity of Nolan's message moves me to this day.
