A Perth woman was left shocked and disgusted after she stumbled upon a taxi driver taking a dump on a park verge in Leederville on Tuesday.
>According to the Perth Voice, the woman was walking her dog when she spied a Swan Taxis cabbie squatting down on a patch of grass on Burke Street near the Britannia Park tennis club at around 9.50am.
>This was despite a public toilet being only a stone's throw away.
>The woman, who didn't want to be named, said the cabbie even brought his own bog roll.
>"He's squatting down, and then I saw him wiping his bottom and I went…'he is taking a dump right on the side of the road'," she told the Perth Voice.
>"You want to see the mess this guy left behind. It was so daring of him to do that when there were toilets so close by."
>The woman said the cabbie then left a pile of dunny roll all over the verge. When she suggested he tidy up his mess, he simply ignored the woman and took off in his cab.
>The shocked woman then jotted down the cabbie's number and got on the blower to City of Vincent mayor John Carey.
>Mr Carey told WAtoday he was "flabbergasted".
>"As an inner-city council I get some unusual emails and texts, but this one honestly takes the cake," he said.
>"I mean do we have to put up signs saying please don't poo on the verge?
>"For a cab driver to do a poo in front of a resident is extremely disrespectful.
>"I don't understand how a cabbie can accept doing a number two in a public space is ok."
>Mr Carey said he passed on all the details to the city's health department who were planning to contact Swan Taxis.
>"It's just totally unacceptable," Mr Carey said.
>A spokeswoman for Swan Taxis said the company was trying to get to the bottom of the issue.
>"It is unfortunate that such behaviour is demonstrated in public places and we will not tolerate such behaviour," she said.
>"We are investigating this complaint seriously and if substantiated, we will take appropriate action against the driver."
