we engage with our surroundings using our organism, a significant part of which is taken up by neurons. when you look at something, you're setting off a process that goes from the eyes to the occipital lobe, where it travels in many other complex networks to do higher functions (recognizing lines, detecting movement, distinguishing edges).

we know many of these things by making lesions to animals, or studies about people who damaged particular areas of their brain. we know there's such thing as a kind of visual agnosia in people with certain brain damage that are unable to track things if they're moving.

so think of any part of the brain involved with shooting those digital arrows, that wouldn't likely involve some part of the brain involved with driving?

It's a question predicated on your metric that gets blurry even in the most far flung of cases- If your metric is avoiding and not causing traffic accidents, brain wasting away is utterly immaterial because like what I brought up above, the elderly get into and cause far fewer traffic accidents than young people with their full faculties. If your metric is excelling in something like racing; the highest form of driving, your point gets kicked in the head too because fuckers like Mark Martin excelled into their sixties, fuckers like Dale Earnhardt or Andretti pushed into the 50s age where the brain starts to shit the bed and whooped up on kids practically born to compete in the sport. Those are the two general sticks I measure by a lot of times and really what else is there? So, Chaplain was acting incredulous to the idea of ability in driving being related to the ability to play Hanzo, based off some shallow meme, and continued to act incredulous despite everything. Realizing that Kanra was actually right and stating something as obvious as the brain using similar systems involved in both, with insane overlap from in vision and motor networks involved in both, suggested a way they didn't overlap may be the forearms. I didn't know you could drive without forearms.

Do you have an anxiety disorder that makes you panic and freeze and maybe your friend is drunk and you have to drive his manual tranny car, what's the follow distance on the guy behind you- There is so much going on that you've asininely boiled down to "better neurological processes=NOTICEABLY better driver" when experience and understanding are the true deciding factors. I've even got an anecdote for you because engineer's in the 60s accounted for people like you- American cars of that have a reputation for being "poor handling" boats that didn't like to take turns at speed- This was something of a compromise between how the control arms were located based on how the frame captured the body and the general driving characteristics they wanted. The front suspension geometry of something like a GM A body or early Ford Mustang were such that under hard cornering they would experience a dynamic camber loss, resulting in a loss of contact patch with the road, exceeding the tire's circle of traction and no matter how far you turn the wheel they continue going the direction you're facing under a condition known as "understeer." They opted for this because it was friendly to people shit at driving; since the way you correct understeer on the road is by letting off the throttle- Under a few informal NHTSA and personal case studies they found that most driver's first reaction to a "vehicle out of control" state like understeer or oversteer is to let off the throttle. They were accounting for idiots like yourself with those lightning reflexes that only put you into a ditch quicker.

i've always been curious, but not being an American, living in cities and intending to live in cities my whole life, and being okay being driven by others has left me postponing the study.

I know gas goes in, there are pistons, something turns an axel which is connected to wheels, and different parts need lube. the engine is the thing in the hood, there are automatics and standards, which control how you change gears, and I assume car companies all do variations of this stuff. there is electricity and valves and wires all over the place, and various designs have different outcomes. the design of a thing influences the outcome, while still doing its general thing that has likely been a thing for decades.

the greatest part is the exhibited behaviour. all those things happen to rely on lower, shared parts. like eye sight and registering movement, or sending signals down through your limbs to do things. I'm being super obvious here that I really hope you at least get what I'm saying.

Also, sim racing does succeed to fill in the practice gap for competitive racing drivers when there is no hardware available for a while.

Doesn't mean playing Forza makes you a better driver, though it can help with some racing basics like getting a feel for a good racing line.

He has predicated his rhetorical points upon misinformed engineering/mechanical principles ala Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame. Using non-words "refined/more advanced/peppy" and doesn't understand any actual pieces he bases his arguments on. Look to the 427 Camaro review where he calls the Chevrolet big block "unadvanced" in engineering terms compared the the LS series engines when the big block heads have the sorta radical canted valve arrangement. He gets shit wrong ad nauseum too, I've never run into a writer who has to tell himself to not talk out of his ass.

I don't have any greatest games. I honestly haven't been in love with any particular game since I was a kid.

Star Citizen fucked up, and now it's a laughing stock.

Iron Harvest actually does look interesting, sort of a re imagining of Europe in WW1-2.

Civ6 is better than 5. But with all the expansions, it is now a tough penny to swallow to start.

>>2347486

Is the point you're driving out that indie games can be an introductory form of gaming? Or more along the lines that something that is simple can still be great?

Either way, not many indie games warrant that kind of respect.

it's not the og type of meditation, though that has some benefits. it's mostly closing my eyes, opening a notepad and touch typing til I've entered a meditative state, which is denoted by a feeling of alert quiet calm.

not sure if prior og meditation made it easier to do this kind, but I still seem to feel the same effects after a period of time doing that. also really good for practicing different kinds of thinking, if you're someone who gets stuck in ruts and relies on familiar paths.
