I know of Xi Jinping but we don't really cover much about Asian history in our schooling.

When we talk about WWII we're taught about the Allies as USA, Soviet Union, Canada, & the UK against the Axis Powers (枢軸国 ) as just Germany and Japan.

But since we got most of our originally culture from the UK we're taught more of it being us vs Germany and then the Pearl Harbor attacks + the two nukes being sort of an aside to that story.

I think a lot of the downplay of China's role in it comes from out downplaying of Japan's role. The internment of Japanese-Canadians on our west coast brought our nation a lot of shame and we did a formal apology, so I guess our curriculum tries to downplay their involvement to hide the shame?

It's a bit of a tough question to answer since Canada is pretty much a giant combination of different ethnic backgrounds.

I think it's mostly composed of people from the UK or France, but you can draw a lot of similarities to Americans.

I personally have a French / Dutch background but a ton of my friends are German and there are large Arabic, Indian, and Asian populations around too.
