>i try to look beyond any given limited group such as print media or social media
you avoid limited groups, such as the massive, limitless wealth of views and ideas produced by the entirety of print media and social media... and use something waaaay more limited, and waaaay less informative: election debates!?
>instead look to the greatest aggregate i can find, in this case the election debates and the discussion surrounding them.
how the fuck is a debate ever an aggregate. you have no reason to think an election debate is some aggregate. name one fucking debate. you won't because you can't. you know that's stupid. no way you believe that the candidates are sitting down before the debate and thinking, "How best can we produce a aggregate view of our supporters?"
>as for knowing my enemy, when individuals present themselves that is precisely what i do
now I just think you're lying. someone who is so avowedly lazy as you, and holds the views you do, strikes me as someone who actually doesn't try to understand from a variety of sources. I mean, you fucking start by calling them your enemy.
>beyond that i characterize organisations based on their observable actions and contrast that with my own values
you mean their headlines. you characterize organizations based on a shallow sampling of their articles. and characterize them based on that. and so you have no issue saying you want the New York Times and The Independant to go bankrupt, because they're enablers. these organizations you know so very little about, and you blindly trust their non-existence will produce something better. I mean, fuck. you are aware that the New York Times and The Independant, despite their biases, if your target are those who drive agendas and sow disinformation, are actually some of the better, more objective organizations?
fuck. when even is the last time you even read an article from those publications.

election debates are an appeal to the public, they are useful to a limited degree for gauging the concerns of a nation in that respect. that alone as a measurement is not without flaws though.
>someone who is so avowedly lazy as you, and holds the views you do, strikes me as someone who actually doesn't try to understand from a variety of sources.
only when they present themselves to me in person, as you do now. then i take the time to understand them. honestly, US politics is only of passing concern to me.
>I mean, you fucking start by calling them your enemy.
there are a variety of organisations who act contrary to my political desires, in that sense they can be my enemy as an organisation.
>you mean their headlines.
no, if i see something that strikes me as egregious i take the time to make sure what is being said is indeed egregious.
>these organizations you know so very little about, and you blindly trust their non-existence will produce something better.
well the market is a self-correcting system.
>you are aware that the New York Times and The Independant, despite their biases, if your target are those who drive agendas and sow disinformation, are actually some of the better, more objective organizations?

that's a backpeddle from "I look beyond media and social groups for being too limited, opting for election debeates since their are decent aggregates." there's nothing wrong with using debates as a source of information, but it's ludicrious to say they are a less limited, more aggregate form of information out there. it sounds like something you just made up. because you're too smart to actually buy that.
>there are a variety of organisations who act contrary to my political desires

I would advocate for the NYT to go bankrupt in a heartbeat, mainly from my personal experience of having to deal with their reporters. I remember a long time ago, when Syria was a much hotter issue than it is now, I was at a sort of junction where some heavy discussion of events was going on with first hand sources. Keep in mind that the ability to get information in and out of Syria is very difficult, to the point where people would walk to the boarder and hand off USB drives of information. We were talking with this one guy who knew a lot of people posting information (good sources, not guys who just try and be the first to report on something). Then out of the blue these two idiots came up and started talking about how they worked at the NYT. Like nothing we were discussing mattered. Their status of being an NYT employee mattered more than the work we were doing right then and there. We would talk for a few minutes, and then they would re-shift the conversation back to them. Nobody cared, and nobody wanted them there. Later that night they started talking to our durka source man, and tried to get him as their "exclusive" source, acting like they owned the information at hand.
Later we had an encounter with them involving wikimapia. Wikimapia is this retarded wikimap thing that got used a ton in syria by geoint autists to help the rebels in the area have better SA. What would happen is, we would go in and add stuff (interesting stuff like compounds and what not). These were things the reporters were going to talk about/write about soon and they didn't want others knowing for some dumb fucking reason, so they would undo the results and try to bury the modifications. Their childish actions have probably had some serious consequences, but I am not sure the full extent.
From what I have heard from friends, this elitist and suppressive nature is rampant throughout the whole company, to the point that doing joint work with the is simply unbearable. They live in a cut-throat world where their pay depends on exclusive access to information, and they are willing to fuck over others to maintain it.
Long time lurker here, this is a hell of a first post to the board I guess.

I take you at your word, but the model of reality I work with is that organizations are made up of individuals. and calling an organization a singular thing is alright, but it has to serve a purpose, otherwise the individual view is a reliable default. nuking NYT doesn't seem like it'd solve the ruthlessness of journalism. using a scalpel to cut out bad actors would work though.
in a world bent on keeping its secrets, sometimes you'll accidentally hire someone ruthless to the exclusion of their own colleagues. you still want those ruthless people. and a successful news company needs them. but even Lois Lane cares about her exclusives. getting rid of one company won't solve the problem of the need to have ruthless people when uncovering truths.

Whoa, slow down a bit. You seem to have made a couple of assumptions I can dispel. Sorry if I'm wrong.
1. I do not have depression or anything. There's nothing to recover from in that sense. It's just that now that there is responsibility on me, the problems my issues cause truly arise. I HAVE had a period people now say was a depressive episode, but we're past that, even if the root cause is still not gone.
2. I'm not saying you shouldn't be optimistic. I'm saying I find it hard to be. But I've got some awful sense of self-worth, so that's just really a given.
3. I'm not completely without the belief that my life might turn out not horrible, that's why I'm drudging on.

It's a place where you pay a lot of money to cook your own food. Not my cup of tea. Probably better places with a google search.
Lechonera is a Puerto rican restaurant that probably made me gain most of that weight, in conjunction with Metro Diner. Like 2 cups of rice and 2 pounds of meat with every order you make.
