I love almost everything Hitchcock has done but Mel Brooks always knew the line between what made something both a love song and critique. I love the films HotW is parodying but it never really had the essence of them, if that makes sense. HotW is a great spoof; High Anxiety is a spoof that manages to always play on specific Hitchcock tropes, especially camera work.

Like Silent Movie. It was actually a silent movie (in earnest and parody) that felt like it loved the genre it was making fun of. HotW just seems to realize the spectacle of the major blockbusters of the 50s and early 60s, but never really had the same "soul" as them. A great comedy nonetheless.
