Just because I can put shiny things on it, doesnt mean it is useful for the hobby. If I had my way, I'd get one or two tiers above the basic body and not buy used or off-brand.

Well, if you google any one of those guns and the word competition you'll find all sorts of videos. I found a video of the Chiappas Rhino being used at the IDPA. There's also the Mateba MTR series that has the MTR-14, a .22LR designed specifically for competition matches.

Yeah, though the factory triggers on them are garbage. A ten pound trigger pull and metal scraping on metal from the magazine disconnect make for a pretty lousy time. I'm gonna replace the trigger with a wider one and replace all the springs with better ones, then probably take it to a gun smith to do a trigger job on it since that requires filing and polishing a little metal block that the hammer catches on.

IDPA is very broad, it is not an event.
Yes, USPSA at least has both a revolver specific division within the broader pistol divisions. The reason they have their own division even though most general pistol competitions do not ban the revolver action is because they are inherently worse at precision shooting than their auto-loading counterparts, so they would get very little use otherwise.
Maybe it is just a personal thing, but if I was going to try my hand at competition, I would not strive for the b-division of my sport.

Except that's also not true. The MTR-14 was known as an incredibly accurate firearm. Jerry Miculeck put six shots from a revolver on a single target in one second. Revolvers are by no means a "b" division gun. It's entirely about preference. I'm better with a revolver so I lean heavily towards them. I work with a gal that doesn't like revolvers so she only shoots semi-autos. A revolver is not a "b" class firearm by any means.
