I don't think they're outclassed at all. A revolver is far less finicky than a semi-auto, so what you lose in the slight amounts of speed firing and reloading you gain in far less malfunctions. That's not to say a revolver can't or won't, just that there are far fewer malfunctions they can have and they are far less frequent than their semi-auto counter parts. Plus, you will never have issues with failure to feed or failure to fire (since literally all you'll have to do with a revolver is pull the trigger again). Every type of weapon has its pros and cons. It's all about how you personally weigh them out.

That's just wrong, though
There are basically three things you want in a competition gun to maximize accuracy:
very, very little moving metal
a barrel that is as close to being in-line with your arm as bossible
and a proper balance of weight
All of which revolvers are inherently worse at.
1. During the shot, the firing pin on the revolver has to move, which is inherently heavier than the auto-feeder due to the need to have a protrusion to cock it. After the shot, it must turn the revolver thing, which is a LOT of metal rotating. The competition .22's have very little reciprocating mass in the bolt, it is just a small tube that moves the length of a bullet.
2: There is a whole revolver thing above the trigger before you get to the barrel, so the barrel is also inherently further from your hand than a competition auto-loader can be. Not much explanation needed there.
3. This one is a little more arbitrary, but a revolver is also hampered by the balance in weight. The actual revolver part, which I know I dont know the name of, puts a lot of weight relatively high and far back on the gun. This means that you have to add a lot of extra weight both on the bottom of the grip and the barrel just to compensate for that, which you don't have to do for an auto-loader.
auto-loaders are inherently better for both accuracy and speed shooting. You may be better with a revolver, but the best revolver shooter would be outclassed by the best auto-loader shooter purely due to the limitations of the system.

This is the record-holding soviet olympic pistol. It was so superior to any other competition pistol design that it required the rules of the sport to be rewritten to specifically say that the barrel needs to be above your hand.

Except they're not worse at it.
1. The firing pin doesn't have to move at all. On most modern .22LR revolvers the firing pin is fixed in place and the hammer hits it, instead of being on the hammer itself. On a semi-auto you have every single part of the gun moving slightly every time the gun cycles, noting is going to shift out of place enough to where the gun can't be fired, but it'll shift enough to throw off the accuracy. Also the slide, the hammer, the barrel, the ejector, the sear all move.
2. Yes, however it is literally all one big piece of metal. So long as you are holding it right, it will be in line with your hand. Plus there are revolvers that compensate for that by having the cylinder be in front of the trigger with the barrel being in front of that.
3. No it doesn't. The cylinder balances the gun fairly well directly above your trigger finger.
Have you ever fired a revolver before?
>>2180509
What is that gun called? The specific name.
>>2180511
I'm not wrong, you fucking retard. Revolvers and semi-automatic handguns are both equally viable and equally good in competition shooting. A revolver is capable of pulling trick shots just like a semi-automatic. A revolver is able to fire incredibly quickly, can have spot on perfect accuracy, and has fewer possible malfunctions than a semi-automatic.
6c0ce3 No.2180524
>>2180508
The reciprocating mass of the auto loading pistols slide has to be a constant, and in the case of delayed blow-back action must be sufficiently heavy to keep the bolt face locked to the breach until pressures drop to safe levels before being pushed back.
Meanwhile, the cylinder on a revolver is the pressure bearing component that must safely handle the pressures of the expanding case walls within each chamber, but its mass doesn't have to move in order to fulfill this function. This means that the cylinder can be made of a VERY light material, such as on the S&W Performance Center Model 929 (by Jerry Miculek). As well, the mass of the cylinder doesn't stay consistent, as each subsequent shot makes the cylinder lighter and lighter, which changes its balance as you fire.
This isn't to say that the same isn't true for an auto-loading handgun, in fact it's more true as instead of just the weight of the bullet and burnt powder leaving the barrel, the ENTIRE casing is outright ejected from the firearm.

This is just wrong. The moving parts in a competition .22 are extremely minimal. The only moving part is the bolt and the mass of that is kept as little as possible. The whole point is to not throw off accuracy at all.
>it will be in line with your hand
It doesnt matter if it is in line with your hand, what matters is where the barrel is located in relation to the line of your arm so recoil goes straight back and does not lift the barrel.
>cylinder balances the gun fairly well
It is in the center mass of the gun. Same with above, you want your weight significantly forward and below your hand to minimize muzzle climb.

The Olympics isn't really a good measure of standards anymore, as they've taken great strides to separate the military aspects of the shooting sports for Olympic competition. This is why all the guns in the Olympics now look like fancy space guns, and only shoot .22, and you're literally trying to place one shot on top of the other like a lead armed Robbin Hood.
But if top accuracy measured with a micrometer is all you're going for then bench rest "rail guns" are just as applicable to this discussion. None of this has anything to do with actual practical application of the manual of arms of any weapon.
It used to be that Olympic shooting required you to use a military grade rifle to do this. But again, they want to distance themselves from this look for a long time now.
So comparing revolvers and auto-loaders in this instance is quite literally pointless.

I can guarantee there are more moving parts in a .22LR semi-automatic handgun than a .22LR revolver. You have the bolt, the slide, and the hammer. In a revolver you have the hammer and the cylinder.
>what matters is...
If your hand and trigger finger are not in line with your arm you are shooting incorrectly.
>you want your weight...
That's where the barrel comes in. Since the majority of the weight is in the cylinder, which is pretty much right above your hand, then you have a barrel sticking out, that's going to drag the gun downwards slightly.
Except that revolvers are used in the Olympics for some of the shooting competitions. The current record for the rapid-fire ISSF 25 meter pistol stage was set with a revolver, a Toz 49. The ISSF 50 meter is shot only with a single shot .22LR which is not a semi-auto. The only one where a revolver would put you at a disadvantage is the ISSF 25 meter rapid fire, which requires 60 shots total. AND that one is Sport pistol only as the rules dictate. The ISSF 25 meter pistol event for women is shot only with a sports pistol as well.

I demonstrated that I was currently in possession of my own weapon and informed him that if that was the direction he wanted the situation to proceed I would be happy to oblige him. To which he responded instantly by trying to play the victim and promptly fucked off.

I'm not saying the extractor moves because it doesn't. There is another part besides the extractor, yes? I don't know how this is hard to understand
You want all the momentum of the recoil going straight back into your arm, so the bullet should be coming out of the barrel in the center of your arm, which is around your middle finger. That is why the gun pictured has the barrel located so and why they made a rules saying the barrel had to be above the level of your thumb
Either way, that part is integral to the bolt and very minor in terms of weight

https://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/28/politics/justices-rule-police-do-not-have-a-constitutional-duty-to-protect.html
Basically, the woman, Gonzales's ex-husband violated a restraining order and kidnapped her children then later murdered them. Gonzales had informed the police about it and even told them where he was, but the police did nothing until the ex-husband showed up at the station and opened fire on the officers, who then shot and killed him. She sued the police department and the city for failure to protect her children, and it eventually got to the SCOTUS at which point they ruled in favor of the city stating there was nothing in place requiring the enforcement of a restraining order, and even if there were, individuals do not meet requirements for the Due Process Clause.
It was 7-2.
>>2180614
But they don't, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Castle Rock, stating there was no obligation to protect that woman's children even though there was in fact a restraining order against the ex-husband.
>why would you use your middle finger to shoot?
I don't know, why are you talking about using your middle finger?
>why would extra parts add weight to a gun
Because it's another part that has to be added to the gun which brings up the gun's weight. And there's still more moving parts.

The vast majority of firearms deployed in confrontations never fire a shot, their mere presence dissuades the other party and ends the confrontation almost immediately.
There are other times it is required that the firearm be discharged however.
He was all talk, that was very quickly demonstrated the moment he immediately backed down once it became apparent the use of a firearm was a possibility in the situation.
This was expedient, required no third party state intervention, and ultimately solved itself.
The what ifs, and would haves don't matter, and are entirely conjecture.

Real quick, the barrel is above your trigger finger and is aligned with it on pretty much all guns except old beat up ones or poorly made ones. The change in the rules just stated that the barrel had to be above the trigger finger, not out of alignment with it.
The more moving parts there are the less accurate the gun becomes over the course of shooting because everything is slightly moving around, not enough to make the gun unfireable but enough to change the shot.
It is not just one case. There are other cases. Erie Railroad v. Tompkins (1930), Deshaney v. Winnebago County Child Protective Services (1989). Plus various state regulations that state there is no obligation for the police to protect you and that you cannot sue the police, city, or state for failing to arrest a criminal, prevent a crime, or to provide adequate protection unless certain criteria are met which includes violation of a Constitutional right.

f85e55 No.2180634
One last thing. Depending on the state he's in, someone making terrorist threats is a justification for the feeling that your life is in imminent danger so you can use or threaten deadly force. Here in Texas, if I have a gun, and someone is acting crazy and seriously threatens to murder me, I have the right to threaten deadly force, and then use deadly force if it escalates to him attempting to kill me.

Would the line of imminent risk of bodily harm be crossed had he physically presented the weapon he threatened to retrieve first?
What if, as you've already asked, he already had it on his person? And how was I to know if he did, or didn't?
Having no idea of how the situation will develop, and delaying in taking personal action by calling for the state, would have allowed for the situation to develop further in potentially undesirable ways. Apologizing for the supposed infraction was what already caused his verbal assault, would calling for the assistance of the state have the potential to aggravate the other party further? And if it did, to what potentially disastrous end while you wait for them to arrive?

No. It has to be imminent and the second the person is no longer an imminent threat, due to leaving or incapacitation, you cannot kill that person because then it's murder. If a person seriously threatens you one day, then days later you kill him, that's murder. If a guy attacks you, then days later you kill him, that's murder. If a person breaks into your home and you shoot him rendering him not a threat, but then you shoot him a second time to kill him, that's murder. If a person attacks you on the street and you shoot him, but then you shoot him a second time to kill him, that's murder.

No, the regulation is about the verticle position of the barrel. See the bottom right of this image. The barrel has to be LOCATED above the thumb, wheras the gun pictured here >>2180605 has the barrel located IN THE POSITION of your middle finger pointing straight. The sights are still where they would normally be, but the barrel itslef is lowered so recoil is transferred straight back into your arm instead straight back on a line which is above your arm, essentially eliminating vertical recoil.
Here is an extractor from a competition 22 pistol:
https://www.airgunsplus.ca/shop/walther-gsp-22-ejector-wpin/
It is a piece of sheet metal that is light enough so the slight movement that it does have does not have enough momentum to figure into the calculations much at all. By far, the only thing you really have to worry about is the bolt moving backwards and the light .22 casing flying off in a direction which is usually counter to the movement of the bolt.
In a revolver you have the whole problem of the rotational momentum of the cylinder with, after the first shot a full set of loaded rounds minus one.

They also mention conservation of mass as if to say that the equation in any way implies the total mass of the universe changing.
>Biblical Scientific Foreknowledge predicts that there is no unified theory of light and matter because they were created at different times, in different ways, as described in the Book of Genesis.
Ohh, I get it, the reason there's political pressure to recognize the formula is because the illuminati wants to suppress biblical authority.

sweatting is actually a very efficient way to cool yourself off, so every bit of sweat that is wet and is not evaporating is water that is not actually cooling you down, so you feel hotter.

dry heat physiologically feels cooler because your sweat evaporates like it is supposed to. What is the question here? You do get dehydrated easier because your sweat is working, but it does feel cooler
