I've been meaning to play this game and watch the anime for a while, is it any good? I suppose I'm already a fan of animes with angels bearing blunt weapons so there's that.

I suppose you're right that the main plot and writing aren't actually that great. I think the reason I enjoy it so much is because the characters themselves are so cute and wonderful, especially the dynamic between Sakura and Tomoyo.

If they'd got rid of Li it would have been a big improvement, but that's just because Sakura belongs with Tomoyo. I think Sakura's brother was fine - his teasing of her was fun and not frequent enough to get boring. Anyway, I'm a fan of bullying so seeing Sakura getting teased is one of the highlights of the show.

It also had some really nice music.
