Am I justified in thinking this? How was Ao? Would you a Coralian?

>How was Ao?

Let's just say it's a decent example of why people get leery about Bones making sequel series.

Also might add that I first saw the original series in full maybe five years back. I thought it was enjoyable myself, but at the same time I see how it's wound up rather divisive, especially in the pacing department.

I marathoned it once and got pissed off that they never established the world enough for me to fully understand what was going on. I can barely remember but I think my rage was centered around the magical computer sticks.

I am collapsing into dust as we speak, pls stob

 No.9953

I remember hating all the main characters.

The only one I remember distinctly liking was the pink coral.

 No.9964

I rewatched it not that long ago, I loved it before but realized it's just not meant for adults at all. And I don't mean "target demographic" wise like other shows where you can enjoy them regardless. It's a very directly speaking to young adolescents about life and growing up through out the show. It's not brow-beatingly cringe worthy, but it's just a lot of stuff you don't need to hear or care about if you're older. If you're actually a 13 year old, though, get ready for the greatest show of all time.

So what about the new movies?

 No.10118

Eureka is a decent shounen.

Eureka is one of those shows you watch solely for a single character. And it's Anemone

Rewatched it like a year ago. It surprisingly holds up as a pretty good story. Bit of a meandering mess with not quite enough exposition on its world to be truly understandable, but the characters are good and have realistic growth, the setting/atmosphere is fresh, and the smattering of plot elevates it a bit once it finally kicks in.

It's a pretty good show. The OP/EDs are dope as HELL too, just like I remember. Holy christ though do not watch the sequel unless you hate yourself with a burning passion. It's absolute shit. I can not possibly overstate this enough. Please do yourself a favor and pretend that that EU7 is a standalone story that ends right then and there.

The writing is weak at times, and to give an idea how little show knows what to wants to do at times, it literally forgets characters exist in the last 10 episodes. Matthew Just stops showing up in the show near the end. He doesn't die or anything, they literally just forget to even draw him in group shots.

It's a fucking shounen, what did you expect. It's trope storytelling for 13 y.os

 No.10166

>>10160

Would you recommend it to someone who's never seen it before? I'm curious about it because my roommates and I recently got into DDR and every anime pack is littered with Eureka Seven songs.

 No.10170

>>10165

bad storytelling is bad storytelling. Just because it's for a younger audience doesn't mean it's bad. There's plenty of trash meant for older audiences as well. And Renton's moment where he freaks the fuck out is definitely one of the better moments in anime

>>10166

It's overall worth sitting through and watching. It's a handful of those moments that make you remember an anime forever, it's got a cute love story, and even 10 years later I still can't help but grin like a retard whenever the finale song plays on my Ipod because it reminds me a a genuinely great time. That said, it's 50 episodes and it really doesn't need to be anywhere near that long. If you're a neet who's time means nothing, definitely watch it. It's harder to recommend to someone with a full time job and needs to be pickier about their shows, but they'd still enjoy it.

 No.10171

>>10170

It's you who were criticizing the complexity of story and characters in a shounen show targeted at prepubescent kids.

 No.10172

>If you're a neet who's time means nothing, definitely watch it.

Well then I'll give it a shot. I'm a sucker for cute love stories anyway.

 No.10176

>>10172

Don't be too discouraged by what he says. 50 might be a bit too much, but not by an unreasonable amount. It would have been perfect as one of those rare anime with 39 episodes. That's only a single cour off of what we got.

The love story isn't nearly as good as he makes it out to be though.

 No.10177

>>10171

I didn't criticize the complexity of it, I criticized the fact that it literally forgot an entire character existed. Eureka 7 does a decent job with it's storytelling, I was just pointing out what I thought was the biggest (and funniest) flaw. You're the one that made a retarded blanket statement about the writing of anything aimed at a target demographic, which I then called you out on.
