/animu/ any of you watch this?

Project A-ko is my jam – and my fetish – and my waifu. I adore this goofy-ass cartoon. Seriously, the original Project A-ko movie is probably my favorite movie of all time, right up there with Ghostbusters.

The second movie saw a clear drop in quality. It wasn't bad. It had a few good laughs in it, and the production quality looked good enough, but it clearly lacked the love and attention by many hungry talented young creators which made the first movie so astoundingly good. By the third movie, the series just fell apart. Everything looked quickly done or under a budget restraint. No fun new characters were introduced, and the writers either ran out of gags or maybe chose to run with inside jokes that went over my head.

If you can get the DVD with the commentary track, it grants a great insight into the anime movie production process.
