My country is incapable of producing good dubs, except for anime for whatever reason. They didn't translate the opening, but they came up with a similar song using the same tone and instrumental track, which is pretty good on its own and includes the "cha la head cha la" part.

It's worth watching for the worldbuilding alone. The production staff clearly thought a lot about how the future would work if space travel and junk hauling became so common they were uneventful. The characters are also a lot of fun, and every one of them has some kind of character arc or memorable trait.
It's also one of the last futuristic seires from before the iPhone collectively ruined our vision of what the future could look like. There is a very specific kind of coziness to be found watching characters exchange data via flash drives, talk to one another with upload delays using phone terminals, and operate electronics with giant handheld control devices.
I highly recommend it.

This web short reminded me of the Nyanko Days threads back on /a/ so I tried webming it. After much searching and tweaking I settled on these settings:
ffmpeg -i "input.mkv" -vf "scale=1280:-1,subtitles=input.mkv" -sn -c:v libvpx-vp9 -threads 4 -speed 4 -tile-columns 2 -g 240 -frame-parallel 1 -row-mt 1 -b:v 0 -crf 39 -pass 1 -an -f webm /dev/null
ffmpeg -i "input.mkv" -vf "scale=1280:-1,subtitles=input.mkv" -sn -c:v libvpx-vp9 -threads 4 -speed 0 -tile-columns 2 -g 240 -frame-parallel 1 -row-mt 1 -auto-alt-ref 1 -lag-in-frames 25 -b:v 0 -crf 39 -pass 2 -c:a libopus -b:a 110k output.webm
You can see artifacts in some parts but overall it looks pretty good to me. If any video encoding experts can spot possible improvements let me know. Bear in mind I wanted the best 720p quality that fit in the 16mb limit, I'm sure you can get it smaller if you're willing to make more compromises. For example, converting the audio to mono and lowering its bitrate shaved off about a megabyte, but I didn't think that was worth it.
No.97036
>>96827
3 minutes of anime is easy to fit in 16MB.
set -frame_duration to 120 , that'll increase libopus' audio quality very slightly.
Set -g to a higher number, anime low bitrate footage decodes fast and is very repetitive, the maximum of 9999 may actually be fine and doesn't mean you only have a single I-frame in the video since it only specifies an upper bound on differential frames, not a lower bound.
2 pass encoding is useless if you're just going to use CRF anyway, the whole purpose of it is finding a CRF setting that'll encode the video at the specified overall bitrate.
Set -aq-mode (disabled by default) to 1 (variance) when encoding anime. It will allocate more bitrate to less repetitive parts of scenes, anime is defined by repetition and flat color, therefore more bitrate will go into motion and edges, which are the important hard to compress parts of the video. Also set -tune-content to screen (picture screen recordings of a computer interface, also flat colors with sharp edges and lots of repetition - like anime).
Consider spending more time encoding and setting -quality to best too.
