The beginning is different from the rest of the manga. It implies and builds up a serious plot with a larger gang at work. It is actually a more comical manga with some really good action parts every once in a while. It does get repetitive with the "help girl, saves girl, falls in love with ryo before having to leave" plot but there are some stories that stand out and are fun to read.

Basically would recommend but there are some chapters I can understand skipping

Considering that you would never get banned for this thread, then I'd say your answer is obvious. Madokami has chapters up to 152, by the way. If you've got an account there it's probably the best place for manga on the internet right now. High quality uploads, batch downloads, a (slow and poopy) online reader, and everything is neatly tagged and sorted.
