It's a Web Novel, as in, without an editor or anything.
Printed LNs tend to be "corrected" and have that smoother corporate feel. WNs are preferable, imho.

What purpose could they possibly serve?
LNs make you dream of a world that isn't utterly shit in every single aspect. A comfy world that isn't an unending nightmare of degeneracy designed to grind down your soul.
Your examples may explore humanity, but there is no more humanity. There's only NPCs and a few stragglers here and there. What's the point?

>What purpose could they possibly serve?
They're simply interesting to read. Japs have always been better at accurately portraying social isolation and depression in media compared to western writers who are often normalfags and don't really get what living like that is like, thus their literature can be very relatable to read.
For example, I think No Longer Human perfectly describes what it is like to live feeling isolated from the rest of society from the day of your birth. The writer didn't suffer from anything like autism or some other severe disorder (or at least he was not aware of such a thing), he was simply a depressed and lonely individual who didn't feel like he belonged anywhere.
As for I am a Cat, I thought that book was pretty interesting to read because it almost seems like what could have been one of the earliest forms of a Japanese slice of life story. But it also gives you a bit of a feeling what it must have been like living in Meji-era Japan.

> Cattleya knew that she was a former soldier. She had belonged to Leidenschaftlich's army along with Hodgins, the man Cattleya loved deeply. Among the members that Hodgins, which was already strange in itself, had gathered to work in Postal Service CH, it was not so strange someone with an ex-military past in his personal history.
> However, even without taking her story into account, Violet was grim. She never showed a smile. Her speech was polite, however, never once did she flatter anyone. With that, she put distance between herself and the others, but showed no sign of despising loneliness, and was almost like a soulless and beautiful entity made of ice. This is how Cattleya saw her.
She is PERFECT.

Marginally related to LN: There's a new adaptation coming this season, "Ore ga Suki nano wa Imouto dakedo Imouto ja Nai"
>The "awkward sibling romantic comedy" series centers around the younger sister Suzuka Nagami and the older brother Yu Nagami. Suzuka is a beautiful third-year middle school student who has excellent grades and is the student council president. She wrote a novel about a little sister who dotes on her older brother, and the the novel wins a light novel award. After they discuss the matter, Yu is the one who debuts as a proxy light novel author instead of Suzuka, under the pen name Chikai Towano.
It's Eromanga Sensei, but twice as meta.
