This is a classical 80/90's teen horror adapted into anime form, and I love it. Really, it's just like zombie movies from that era. There's a time of horror, but the exaggerated gore takes you from "eyebrow raising" to "wait this is getting silly now" in an instant, and it becomes a pseudo self conscious horror comedy.

The condition of not being shit is simply not being of the specific species of "elf" known in the traditional sense. And orcs in your example can be considered mutated enough to be its own species, regardless of the how and why.

Any lifeform not strictly classified as an elf qualifies, regardless of whether or not they belong to the same genus or some other higher order.
