I nominate "Made in Abyss" for having the most disappointing opening ever. Those first 15 seconds make you expect an incredibly dark and pressured song encapsulating the show, and instead you get possibly one of the most generic pieces of J-Pop ever, to the point it's hard to even desribe is beyong the term "J-pop."

Bitch about anime openings thread

 No.31562

I suppose I haven't listened to enough J-pop to get sick of it, because I really love that song.

Series deserved better everything.

This might be the right thread to make a confession.

I skip openings and endings. All of them. Even on brand new shows. I generally don't like j-pop and most examples of anime music. So I just skip it. Every now and then I check a OP or ED when anons recommend it, to see if I might like it. But so far very few examples have proven me wrong.

 No.31578

>>31560

Not saying it couldn't have been better as you say, but it was probably intentional, in the sense that you get this standard J-pop song and silly ED along with it.

And then you get to the bone breaking, euthanasia and child experimentation in the actual show.

I'm guessing they were gunning for that kind of ruse, for people who went in blind and didn't know shit about the mango.

>I skip openings and endings. All of them.

There's a bunch of anime that do really clever shit with their openings, so you're just fucking yourself over. God forbid someone skip the Jojo openings.

 No.31647

>>31643

I've also been skipping them, but for a different reason OPs can sometimes have spoilers, and usually show you who the whole cast is before everyone is introduced. I've been trying to take in all my info from the meat of the episodes alone

 No.31648

Sometimes I skip OPs and EDs too but it depends on the show. In the best cases, they're both crucial to setting the atmosphere and pacing, and in rare cases so do the episode previews.

 No.31652

>>31577

You're not the only one, friendo. The only OP and ED I didn't skip was from Azumanga Daioh.

It was a let down really, i was expecting the the song from the first episode to remain as an OP for the rest of the series, instead ended up skipping the intro for Ep2 onward thanks to that BS jumpy turd we got as an OP..

Kaiji Season 2's OP and ending both really fucked with the atmosphere of the show. Season 1's OP/ED songs kind of portrayed Kaiji as a punk rock folk hero which was rather fitting. Season 2's OP acted like it was some fucking action shounen, and the ED was just fucking nonsense.

>>31665

> i was expecting the the song from the first episode to remain as an OP for the rest of the series

Fuck, I even forgot about that part of the disappointment to it all.

I really disliked the singing voice in Uchouten Kazoku's OPs. Linking the second season's OP because I dislike that one more than the first.

I've been wondering if I should get into the show, I get heavy feel's vibe from it, and I have never been the type of person who dealt with that very well, but I can put that aside if the story is really that good. So is it? I would kill for Nanachi happiness.

Not sure what they meant by Mushishi OP from both s1 and s2. They were both really enjoyable and I certainly didn't skip any of them but it had nothing to do with the show (slow songs about unrequited/past loves).

not sure why I hated it but I didn't enjoy MiA at all. seems like the appeal was edgy isekai with a lot of mystery to keep people guessing but always doing their best to only give a glimpse of the world's rules while distracting with gore or threatening to kill mc duo.

>mc (reg) has unknown origin

where's the problem, boys?

 No.31836

>>31821

Are you being stupid on purpose? He wasn't transported into another world. Having a, to the viewer, unknown origin isn't the same as coming from another world. Also superpowers are not a requirement for an isekai, nor are they exclusive to isekai. Actually, some sort of superpowers are present in a fuckton of nip media that isn't SoL. Even if superpowers weren't ubiquitous in anime and manga, they wouldn't support the idea of MiA being an isekai. Kazuma, the protagonist of one of the most popular isekais, is normal loser.

Also Reg isn't the MC, Riko is. More accurate would perhaps be to say that they're dual MCs, but Riko is the one that gets focused on more.

I myself don't mind animu music as a whole but it does feel like the quality of OP/EDs has gone somewhat downhill since 2006.
