I think it's stupid and selfish. It seems as if people treat kids as pets more often than as the next generation. If you ask why they want kids, it will be "because they're cute" "that's just what you do" or "I love kids!." Just seems silly to me. Then you bring in eugenics, and people passing on their families heart diseases, allergies, and whatever other genetic issues run in them without a single thought for how those would adversely affect their children.

It's literally the reason for our physical existence. DNA seeks to replicate itself. Don't take life lessons from someone who thinks life itself is stupid. You're literally a walking contradiction.

Breed carefully and have multiple children and you can make kids without those issues. Those overburdened with genetic flaws will not be able to procreate. The problem literally solves itself. What the heck is the problem?

Yes. I think the overwhelming majority of people who have kids aren't capable of giving them the life they deserve. Most of the time it's done out of a selfish desire to conform and have a living doll to take selfies with. If people are so desperate to force new humans into existence, they should fix all the horrible problems with society first.

No, the reason for our physical existence is random chance. Life has no grand purpose or end goal. The animals you seek to imitate only reproduce because that's what the chemical reactions in their brains tell them to do. DNA doesn't "seek" to do anything - it just follows the same set of laws as everything else in the universe.

Imagine I told you that the purpose of our existence was to die and rot away. I could justify it in just the same way by pointing out that the universe seeks to increase entropy and that death and decay are integral parts of the natural world. It would be just as stupid.

Well, yeah, that's also something that happens. But, in order of life, only after we've procreated.

This doesn't detract from my point, first procreation, then old-age and death.

If you don't think the obvious goal is "grand" that's your deal, but it's quite obvious for what purpose we were created. It's the only appetite we were endowed with that doesn't increase our chance of individual survival.

Also, you have no way to prove it's random chance. I'm not stating a position on that- because even if true, it's irrelevant how the obvious purpose in the cycle of life came about, but if you want to make a positive statement like that I hope you're prepared to back it up with evidence.

There is no scientifically plausible explanation for how life can have any purpose of any kind. The universe does not give the slightest fuck what any of us do. The only goals any of us have are those which we invent for ourselves.

I'm not getting into a debate about creationism because there is already an overwhelming scientific consensus on the topic. If you want evidence, read the wikipedia article or do your own research. If that doesn't convince you, nothing will.

The object of life is to self-replicate, that's what it does.

To say that it's not universally not aware of its own purpose is also false- I recognize I am an instance of life, I recognize that my appetites and desires have evolved toward a particular purpose- replication of my genes through procreation. I then fulfilled my purpose.

Now, all life is not necessarily self-aware, for instance you- but that doesn't mean life doesn't have an obvious purpose. You don't have to like it, you are welcome to be a failed instance of life if you so desire.
