I haven't gotten any of the new ones since I left Cushy Pen. Fuck them if they think I'm going to pay /that/ much for average level art I can get on DA and FA for free. I originally subscribed for the purpose of reading Blake and Wilson, but gave up because it was updating so damn slowly. So anyone got a dump of it up to the latest update? Appreciated!

Looks like they're currently up to page 68. Totally willing to dump the rest if anyone knows of a decent way to remove subtle watermarks from images. Looks like they watermark the pages with the IP address that you registered to/access the site with so that they can find the new leaked images and then cancel/ban your account. I'd bet they also bar you from ever registering again with the same payment info or from that IP address.

does the watermark cover up the entire page? You could like MS paint over that particular part, and I'm sure I wouldn't complain. I just want to see what the fuck happens at this point.

 No.37155

>>37154

I can see about working on it some tomorrow. I may be able to get away with it because of Immelmann's art style being pretty simple. I can totally take it into SAI and try to cover up the parts where the watermark is. But it's kind of just in like 6 diagonal lines across the picture.

 No.37156

>>37086

You can get rid of the watermark by lowering the color depth slightly (barely enough to even notice). There's steganography plugins for almost every image editor to check to see if you got irod of it completely.

How are the watermarks applied?

Is it alpha-blending, or something more complex like least-significant-bit substitution?

I wrote a script which can reverse alpha blending, but you need to have a copy of the watermark with full transparency information.

If you can describe the watermarking process, I can probably help you remove them.

 No.37228>>37230 >>37269 >>37282

Actually, since the art style involves a very limited color palette, you could compress it to an indexed PNG image with a very small palette to remove the watermark. You might even be able to manually specify the palette in GIMP when you do that.

 No.37269

I'm not entirely sure how they're being applied, myself, but they only ever appear on the image once you drop the brightness and massively raise the contrast. I'm going to give what >>37228 suggested a try and see what happens as a result. Will report back once I know more.

If I need to replicate the watermark, I can probably do that by just tracing over it on an image where it will show up clearly enough.

 No.37282>>37290

>>37228

So I can drop the available color palette, but to get it to completely hide the watermark, it makes the image look like complete shit.

I'm gonna play around with some other options and see if I can at least jerry-rig something passable for you all until I can legitimately remove the watermarks without just obscuring them or rendering them unreadable.

 No.37290>>37301

>>37282

Could you post a cropped image of a very narrow slice through part of the watermark?

You should be able to do it in such a way that it can't be used to identify you.

Even just a few pixels would be useful in testing algorithms to automatically remove them.

I can do you one better. I scrambled the numbers displayed so that it comes up as a internet from an area with a different IP. Also a version of it with lowered brightness and boosted contrast so you can see how they pop up on the images.

I can recreate the watermark with ease, since I've figured out the pattern. It looks like they just use one singular all-purpose watermark that they can slap over portrait or landscape oriented images. There's an example of the pattern the watermark follows, too. Now I just need to identify the font used for the numbers and it'll be even easier.

Let's assume the watermark is just alpha blended.

To extract the original watermark you need two known images with different pixel values but the same watermark. You need to have copies of both the un-watermarked images and the same images after being watermarked. The simplest example is a plain white image and a plain black image.

Because this comic uses large areas of flat color, it should actually be quite easy to create those reference images by cutting and pasting together different regions from different pages. If you make sure your selection tool is sharp - that is, when you cut and paste you never produce semi-transparent pixels - then you can produce reference images which only consist of a very small number of colors. I've attached a couple of examples of what you should be aiming for.

They don't have to be very dark or very light either. Strongly contrasting colors would work too. The RGB channels are treated independently. If you just consider one pixel and one channel at a time, the closer the corresponding values in the two reference images are to one another, the greater the error in the extracted watermark will be.

Once you've got both watermarked and un-watermarked copies of the reference images, you can find the watermark by just solving the alpha blending equation on a pixel by pixel basis. I can write a python script to do that automatically.

CushyPen's watermark, or at least the last one I saw, is more complicated than alpha blending. You can't see it visually, you have to split the image down into it's bit-planes to see it. And it's more complicated than the weak "write the watermark into the LSB" method they used before that. IIRC it only encodes IP and not date or acct, so it's possible to avoid unless they've upgraded.

 No.37510>>37528

>>37509

Looked at some of the images in this thread, >>35973 (OP) has the old watermark. LSB of the blue channel has acct. name and IP written in it. Only checked a few images in the thread though, none of the big dumps in the middle. My decomposer program is slow and it's REALLY hot here. If anyone happens to have a recent high res cushypen image I'll try and figure out a way you could pass it to me with as little risk as possible. Or you could just go balls deep and post it unmodified here.

 No.37512

>>37509

If it's the one I remember seeing, I'm pretty sure it is just alpha blending using a very low opacity value. You have to look at the bit planes because otherwise it's too faint to see clearly.
