 No.921845

It finished its 5th and final volume in japan a while ago but the scans finally caught up. Only of the most underrated, wholesome feelgood seinen series in recent years. About an alien who only needs atmosphere as food coming to earth for work and discovering the joys of cooking and flavours.

It was a great but very niche series not enough people read and now its over ;_;

 No.921882

Finished as that story is over normally, or over as that it was axed? Also, dont spoil me, but tell me if the ending is shit or not.

 No.921885

>>921882

Not OP but it felt very rushed.

 No.921890

>>921882

It was a short 38 chapter series but doesn't feel like it was taken out back and Kenichi'd.

 No.921891

>>921882

It could have easily led to a well-paced ending with the chapters it had, but the end was executed poorly in a way that made it feel more rushed than it had to.

 No.921892

>>921891

Would you really want her to brute force and entire extra tankabon of "will they wont they" just to stretch out what was clear for the last 3?

 No.921895

>>921892

If I wanted another tankoubon why would I have said the chapters it had should have been enough?

It would have felt less rushed if the waiter hadn't fucked up, their dinner had gone well, and Chihiro had just confessed then. The romance had been building up fine to that point. But instead it crammed in a drama mini-arc where he denied it and then had to scramble back to fix things. Then he had to confess properly, then he got hit by a truck waiting for her reply. It was too much stuff crammed in that didn't need to be there.

 No.921900

>>921891

The romance was pretty much established and developed from the first chapter. In any other season, the confession would have been a cliffhanger that led to an instant status quo reset in the following chapter, only to revisit that moment months later to feign some character development again. I'm not going to say that they did something special by not making the same mistakes as other series, but I will say that it works and there was nothing lost by not dragging out their post-confession romance.

Either way, would have been nice to see some more of everything. The world building was pretty good and all the aliens shown were fairly neat for the most part.

>Meanwhile Komi san is turning into a fucking K drama.

Hurts just a little bit.

Manbagi is the better wife material than a genuine peanut butter tier autist

>NTR

>when nobody has confessed to anybody and nobody is dating anybody

It's not NTR, it's a love triangle. There's a difference.

 No.921906

>>921902

Manbagi is able to admit and acknowledge she actually has feelings for Tadano. Komi can't even internally admit she likes spending time with him. I feel sorry for her, but this is what it's going to take to get her to make a move, then so be it.

Manbagi is the better girl though.

 No.921912

>>921901

>>921911

There's appeal to both sides. In general Manbagi is the better choice, but on the other hand for Tadano specifically he and his telepathy synergize well with Komi.

I think what's going to eventually happen is that Manbagi will make the first move but get rejected. It would tie back to her story about her first love, where she was too shy to make a move and lost him. This time, there would be no what-ifs or should-I-haves. She'll do what she can and that will be that.

 No.921914

>>921912

Well at least she won't suffer like the poor paypig girl in spotted flower.

 No.922044

The ending was definitely a bit rushed, but I'm glad it at least got a proper ending instead of just leaving things hanging in the air.

>No after story where Kumika is shocked do discover their species can interbreed and she deals with pregnancy cravings till she lays an egg and then has to raise a child and try not to eat all the baby food she never experienced herself.

 No.922066

>>922063

We did already see a human-alien crossbreed briefly. It was in the New Year chapter. Not the same as Kumika's species, but it does show it's plausible.

That was a good read, I enjoyed how much of a best girl Eiria was.

>Kumika's race

Although with a good deal of handwaving, I like to pair Kumika's transition to a wildly (un)common diet and head tentacle powers as related: while she was more deadpan than her normal until The Udon struck, it seems her species keeps their emotions relative to their intake as seen in behaviors on her planet: the mother and her baby, the audience to the 'exchange expo' and the peeks at her household show few expressions, and when they happen the 'expressions' don't travel beyond shoulder length. Yes, the flight and booze-berserk throws this out together with the author unabashedly changing designs on the fly for better expression.
